Catch-Up with newlyweds Josie and Swanley | Big Fat Gypsy Weddings

We catch-up with Irish traveller Josie and English traveller Swanley who married earlier this year…

The couple only met for the first time less than 12 months ago. They were married shortly afterwards and are now expecting their first baby.

17 year old Josie is now 5 months pregnant. As we follow them on a trip to buy presents and also a baby scan we get an insight into whether a traveller marriage is all what they expected.

She thinks it's stupid to be excited about her own unborn baby 😳 that's often where the childlike tendencies of them show vividly, whenever they express any type of feeling or emotion they laugh and say "I know I sound like a fool" "I know it's stupid" etc, it just highlights how the girls aren't fully matured even though they're just married or just pregnant.

So glad I waited until my 30s to have kids. I honestly think these gypsy girls have babies to fill a void in their life. Plus I find it terrifying that they treat them like dolls to dress up instead of another human being.

Update: They're divorced, after he blew through about $40k cash settlement from the camp property owners where they lived. Josie now has 6 kids by 4 different men and is on trial for attacking a blind pregnant woman and kicking her in the stomach, deliberately trying to cause a miscarriage at a nail salon.

I know it’s a typical thing in the traveller community but imagine thinking at the start of the year “By December, I could be married and be 5 months pregnant with my first child”.
