Welsh Terrier

The Welsh Terrier. With all the usual terrier traits of being a playful, mischievous and downright entertaining guy, there is a sense that he’s a lot calmer than many in the terrier family.

He’s a challenging little fellow, but in a good way; he’ll keep you on your toes with his inquisitive and sprightly personality. He’s also fairly independent, which tends to get him into trouble with other dogs.

He’ll need a decent daily walk, preferably on a lead but can be free if the area is secure. He might not always come when called, he’s not big on obedience. These guys can dig when bored, and tend to bark quite a bit.

Clipping is usually done every three months and will slightly change his coat texture and colour.

Interesting facts: He descends from the Ynysfor Otterhound and the Old English Broken Haired Terrier, two dogs that were virtually identical. Their uncanny likeness to each other meant that they would win shows posing as each other’s breeds.

The Welsh Terrier. A bit of a handful, but always great fun.
