I wonder if maybe things like this have no real direct relation to the moon. In all of the major modern world religions there are monuments and buildings with deliberate astronomical alignments. almost none of them were built to observe or to worship the astronomical bodies or events that they track but rather are symbolic of a link between earth and some concept of heaven. I wonder if too much is made in archeology of things like this.
