Glycolysis happens
In the cytosol
It’s anaerobic
And follows a protocol

Broken down is glucose
Which is really sweet
It releases stored energy
And thermal heat

This all starts with a
Glucose sugar
That consumes ATP
To invest energy

A G6P is made and
A phosphate is striped
A phosphorylation
Caused by the enzyme hexokinase

Next is step 2
Which is a simple shape change
Thanks to the enzyme
Phosphoglucomutase

G6P is isomerized
Into fructose 6 phosphate
No ATP is used
Well isn’t that great

Now moving on
Phosphofructokinase acts here
ATP is consumed
Meaning energy is used

This may seem strange
Because don’t you want to make energy
Well actually using some
Will end up making more

The enzyme isomerase
Is responsible
DHAP is now G3P
Which is optimal

1-3 bisphosphoglycerate
Then dispatches

Step seven is next
Phosphoglycerate kinase helps out
A phosphate deattches
Without a doubt

This phosphate then binds
To an ADP
A substrate level phosphorylation
Creating ATP

Moving on to step eight
Phosphoglucomutase
Will mutate
3-phosphoglycerate

2-phosphoglycerate forms
And the phosphates shift
But the composition d
Doesn’t transform

Next we have 9
And due to enolase
Water is removed
And electrons rearranged

This loss of water is a
Redox reaction
Produces PEP
Through this transaction

Has lots of energy
Even more than ATP

Now used in glycolysis
