Take a tour of Manchester Central Library with our drone video.

The world famous library was officially opened on 17 July 1934 , by King George V, who told the crowds of thousands, "In the splendid building which I am about to open, the largest library in this country provided by a local authority, the Corporation have ensured for the inhabitants of the city magnificent opportunities for further education and for the pleasant use of leisure.".

The Central Library is the second largest public library in the UK and is intended to be an inclusive space, appealing to families, children and young people, and even aspiring entrepreneurs as much as more traditional library audiences

The tour takes in the Media Lounge, The Archives+ Centre and the stunning reading room.

From my experience in Central it’s the other customers that are the main problem, seen them swearing, vaping, drinking alcohol, obnoxious teenagers running riot, feel sorry for the staff they put up with it every day, just trying to to their jobs

Not how it was before. Nowadays, The staff are rude and the security guards are a pain in the 🍑. They're really violent and aggressive now. Harassing people into leaving the library more than 15 minutes before closing time.
