As a french guy watching America from the outside, this gives me hope that voices of reason like this will be heard one day. Thank you Bernie.

I have to be honest my first thought when I saw your comment "As a french guy" was : Your not helping. LoL

But thanks anyway. :) I always enjoy hearing Sen. Sanders speak, and he can use all the support he can get!

That's exactly right. CU is the root of many of our problems. What's scary is that the majority of the damage is still to come if CU continues to stand.

As an economist, it's a bit more complicated than that.

The legal legs for NDAA go away with the revocation of the Patriot Act. It would be automatically invalid. Without revoking the Patriot Act, you can revoke NDAA only to have a different version show up.

There needs to be serious discussion and definitive action taken around this topic as there have been so many lawless cover ups in the name of keeping things "stable" in world governments, banking and other "ruling" systems like the Vatican. Thanks Bernie!

Looks like everyone has an opinion....WHAT CAN WE DO TO MAKE THIS STOP? How can we all argee?

You say repeal the Patriot Act, which should've happened immediately after it's inception, but you need to repeal Citizens United to make any impact on corporations.

What if from now on, every time any company was found guilty of fraud involving any amount over X million/billion dollars - we TOOK the company, and "exploded" it. The business/profits/jobs that the company provides is still intact, but instead of being a corporation, we split it into X amount of small businesses.

There's no point in prosecuting banks when they're only losing a fraction of their profits and can get it back. What if we made it so YOU lost everything, but our economy didn't.

No, because then you're also in most cases punishing people not responsible for any of it. A Wall Street company CEO is usually not an owner of that company, or he is given a small amount of stock, he's merely an employee chosen for the position by the board.
Now, if you took the company, you would take everything from every normal chap on the street owning X amount of shares in his retirement fund, however you wouldn't punish the CEO. He would just be employed by another big firm a week later.

Sometimes I wish the camera would pan to show us the reactions of our other representatives. Are they nodding in agreement? Shaking their heads 'no'? Or, just sitting like glazed over corpses.

Thanks Senator.

So question here, with your experience, who can be held accountable, and will legal actions make a difference? I'm sure you're familiar with HSBC, don't you think their punishment sets a precedent for bankers to engage in more illegal behavior? Of course, the repeal of Glass-Steagal was a huge blow during the 90's, so what can be done to deter bankers from these negative behaviors?
