Second time's the charm? The Microtech Knives warranty process from start to finish! Garbage Knife!

UPDATE 1 5/27: AND IT BROKE AGAIN RIGHT AFTER UPLOADING THIS. HARD TO RECOMMEND MICROTECH AT THIS TIME :(

UPDATE 2: 7/2: It came back from a SECOND trip to Microtech. Still fails to lockup 10%-15% of the time. Not sure what I am gonna do with this.

My Microtech Exocet Bounty Hunter decided to stop locking open. Given that this was my second broken Microtech OTF knife with issues, I decided to document the process and give you all an idea of what it is like to go through the warranty process with Microtech. Actually a very smooth, easy process to follow - nothing to be scared or worried about.

I've found Microtech's (and Hinderer's) warranty to amount to little more than knife day-care. I send them my knife, they keep it for a week or so then send it back in exactly the same state I sent it to them in.

Granted, it's been a couple years since I've owned a Microtech, so it very well could have changed, but Hinderer's warranty is still completely ineffectual, in my recent experience.

So, did they ever get it fixed?

I love the Microtech Chode. But, not if it is chronically flaccid...

I have 2 Microtechs..a cypher and an ultratech..had them for 6 months and a year...both which I carried and fidgeted with..a lot..haven't had that issue yet but fingers crossed! Makes me wonder if they have an issue in manufacturing the smaller knife variants

Thanks for sharing your experience. Very informative. I own two microtechs, a fixed blade-socom alpha mini and a stitch, hopefully I will not have to use their warranty.

I wish they would make that Bounty Hunter in a D/E blade.

They probably have to legally tell customers not to ship USPS because it's federally restricted. UPS and FedEx are privately owned.

It seems that mine has the same problem exactly at the time I was watching your video since I got it in the mail a few minutes before watching this and decided to pull slightly on the blade an it refused to deploy!

If alcohol is causing color to wear off that mans its cheap work...it means its not done properly. My Titan Bestech OTF was for 2 days in alcohol just for cleaning and not even close to losing color.

When you sent it back you should have asked them to verify which steel was used for your particular blade. I also would have asked if they replaced the blade or repaired the original. I would absolutely want to know this. After all you did pay upwards of $300 for it.

Bruh…. Double action Otf knives are SIMPLE to take apart and reassemble so if your planning on collecting a few of these type of knives you should become familiar with the insides of otf knives in general because EVERY one of them no matter what company makes them will all require maintenance…. And you cant always count on EVERY company to offer warranty’s or service for their knives …. The good thing though is that most double action otf knives are SO simple to service theres really NOTHING to them once you open them up…. its like…… REALLY ???? thats it ???? theres like 3 pieces lol …. Most people think there will be an EXPLOSION of parts and pieces and springs flying EVERYWHERE as soon as they open the knife lol …. But nope thats not the case at all :) the hardest one ive ever come across is my Halo v but the extra large spring is what makes it difficult to reassemble not the amount of pieces…. And then theres my Benchmade infidel which is alittle different then the average otf when you open it up but its still pretty simple to reassemble…. but over all most otf knives have the same design or mechanism inside which is simple to service yourself

You let them off the hook. 18 days is not that bad to get a knife that works. Ummmm you should have expected a knife that works when you dropped nearly 4 bills on that thing lol we give these companies to much of a pass. If I buy a knife at Walmart for 12.97 and it falls, that's ok... For 350 Yeah, not ok
