Frankie Valli - Native New Yorker (ALTERNATE VERSION) - 1977

A rare alternate version of Frankie Valli "Native New Yorker" written by Sandy Linzer and Denny Randell. This version clearly has a different vocal by Valli than the 1977 "Lady Put The Light Out" album version. It was featured on a K-Tel double LP titled "The Best of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons Vol.1" released in 1982. Does anyone have any information why this version was only featured here and how or why it ended up on this collection?

This song still resonates with me after nearly 50 years. No other 1 brings back as many wonderful memories as Native New Yorker does. It's so sad that we only appreciate those happy days now they're long gone

*...I'LL TELL YA!* ....Frankie possibly 're-recorded' this version, because since it was featured on another label (K-Tel), he would get a higher royalty rate than the previous label (Private Stock); Odyssey's cover made it a HIT, So, Frankie's 'cover' would get him more THANKS, for changing the LP cover photo, I HATED that, 'Drag queen Frankie' shot! ...ha-HAA!

Thanks for posting and what an interesting alternative version. In answer to your question, I would guess that K-Tel were provided with the wrong master tape. There are a few examples over the years of this happening, but not many.
