Radio 2CH Sydney - Merry Christmas From The Snob Mob - 1970

In 1970, as part of their promotion for their new "Snob Mob" format, Sydney's 2CH issued a flexi-disc.

There were three tracks on the disc..."The Snob Mob Theme"...the classic "Amoco In Your Machine" jingle...and, this track...a Chistmas greeting from the on-air team.

Of the six members of the announcing team who feature on this track, I'm very familiar with five of them...Phil Haldeman, John Mahon, Bob Moore, 'Big' Sam Kronja and John Martin...all of them being seasoned performers on the Sydney radio scene.

The sixth person, however, is a mystery to me...Friel (???) Smith.
If you can cast any light on this man, I'd appreciate it.

I have individually uploaded all three tracks from the disc to YouTube...and, they all feature that wonderful lo-fi flexi disc reproduction!

That brings back so many memories. I was one of the original panel operators when Snob Mob started. Firstly with Phil Haldeman and then with John Mahon. I worked with Dick Fair on mornings before Snob Mob started.

Friel did mid-dawns for many years. He came from country NSW including 2LF Young.
