Pilot View London City Cockpit Landing Airbus A220 - 2024 in 4K

Hello everyone, glad to welcome you back to this video of the Swiss a220 noseview landing at London City Airport.

We took off early in the morning to arrive around 8 o’clock at our destination. Crosswinds of up to 20 knots made this landing a very challenging one.
Also, this approach requires special training and procedures. For example, it is a six degree approach for both runways, 27 and 09. On the a220, the speedbrakes stay extended at about 30% during the entire approach. Il try to capture that next time I go to city as a wingview video for you guys.

If you guys feel like it, try a similar setup in Microsoft flight simulator on the same runway, you will appreciate this captains job even more when you know how hard it actually is to make it look so effortless and easy.

I could visually see that was a steeper than normal approach. I thought you could have just slipped it in, like you were piloting a Piper J-3 cub into a grass strip! That was a great approach, and the landing was just buttery smooth.

I live in Woolwich across the river which is two stops away on the DLR. So yes i have flown both Swiss and Lufthansa Zurich/Frankfurt to connecting flights to either Hong Kong or Singapore. I do love flying from or arriving at city airport as it so convenient, though with the Elizabeth line i dont mind flying direct from Heathrow these days.
