So the general recommendation from Tim seems to be to use at least:
DLSS 3 @ 4K Balanced, 1440p Quality
DLSS 4 @ 4K Performance, 1440p Balanced,
with DLSS 4 Balanced in many ways looking better than DLSS 3 Quality mode.

Because of this difference, the performance hit of 5-10% from DLSS4 doesn't seem so bad, although seems higher on RTX 30 and 20 series GPUs

Don't forget, this is the very first iteration using transformer model where 3 used the CNN model that has had years of experience and improvements under its belt, so there is potential for transformer model DLSS updates to be even better in the future.

See this is the type of stuff that'll have my 4080 lasting as long or longer than my beloved 1060 did. DLSS 4 really feels like unless you're really paying attention, you won't notice it's upscaling in almost all situations.

TAA is so bad that AI frames look better than images using it

The fact that my 6 and half years old 2080 Ti gets a free performance upgrade because I can now use DLSS Super Resolution in Balanced mode at 1440p with the Tranformer Model while maintaining image quality thats better than DLSS Quality CNN is insane.

With AMD, you need their newest RX 9000 RDNA 4 GPU's to get ML upscaling that's close to DLSS SR Transformer so Nvidia gets an edge for me now when it comes to used GPU's recommendations because an RTX 2000 GPU gets that level of upscaling quality.

just wanted to say that DLSS 4 upscaler and updated fg+ray reconstruction are available to ALL RTX gpus. (except framegen on 20 and 30 series, obviously) It seems that some people don't know lol

Multi framegeneration is the only new tech that is available ONLY on the rtx50 series.

I hope for a 1080p test next, I know that DLSS sucks on FHD. But I'd say 1080p would definitely show how strong DLSS4 is.
