For me I didn't even know my condition had a name until just recently, I have a skin-picking disorder called excoriation disorder, which is actually a mental condition, but it manifests on the skin. Over the years it has improved as I learnt to better understand it, cope with it and most importantly fully accept myself and not let myself be defined by it. The hardest part has been addressing it in front of other people, because they often stare, ask me about it and even sometimes make bad jokes or comments about it. I'm still working on that one. Usually in such moments I get triggered and I just don't know how to react. It didn't help that my parents would always tell me not to pick my skin whenever I did it and saying things like: "If you don't stop doing that, nobody will like you, you won't have any friends. Nobody will take you to work for them, etc". I also didn't know what to tell people when they asked me what it is, because I myself didn't know what it was called for years until now. Now I can better explain it to them, I know that many people have it and I'm not the only one and I have to speak up and let them know that making jokes about it isn't appropriate. This is very important!

Oh my gosh I just found out why doctors couldn’t give my condition a name. So many biopsies and no questions about my mental health all these years!!! Im 26 and now starting to heal. My body was covered in red patches that turned dark brown and now Im left with the white patches all over my body that are scars. I healed all on my own getting out of my negative environments and thoughts. Believe me I didnt go to therapy and this was the hardest journey for me to face all alone. I changed my thoughts, environments, and Im doing better now. 😢❤ I have two big red patches Im struggling with still but I feel like Ive came such a long way. I never knew my psychology could impact my skin in such horrible ways:(

yes that's me today in may 2021, in Sardegna Italy, 30 degrees in the sun and I am melting while wearing a long sleave sweater, coz I am ashamed that I am cover with deep dark scars from my atopic dermatitis. I can't get over that for now. But I have a therapy, so I hope for better :)

Got a weird Joe Dispenza advert about becoming supernatural and healing yourself or some bs lol. Shameful scam ads I hate seeing on videos about real things.

This research is flawed. This is not a disease.
