Novation Circuit Tracks: New Feature Walkthrough

LOVE that you updated this video from when you first got the device (Oct 2020) vs. when you made the update (year of our lord 2021), just shows the quality you put into your vids. GREAT stuff keep up the great work!

If you want to disable the master compressor, hold Shift at startup and click the FX button. When the button is blue, the Compressor is active. Press Play to load up the unit.

Awesome stuff as always! Besides the 2 Midi Channels, can you use (turn) the 2 synth channels to control external Midi as well?

Hey Jeremy, thanks for the super-fun review, as always! 👍👍 Quick question - is pattern chaining still implemented in the same way as OG Circuit, now that the Scenes are involved? The old format of going back and forth, chaining pattern 1 three times in a row followed by pattern 5 twice and pattern 8 once? That was very good, does pattern chaining still function in this way in the new unit? Can you chain the Scenes out of numerical order as well? 🤷‍♂️🤔

Ahhhh. The parameter locks were what I really needed to get to. I’m so used to the amazing Elektron workflow that I now need my groove boxes to have that ability or I just won’t work with them.

I like a lot of the changes, especially to the sample flip and 32 step patterns.
Scenes are a nice edition but still limited, really needs a way to set the number of times they loop before progressing. Without there's not enough to sequence an entire song (and why I'm selling on my original circuit). Keen for the rhythm if they add this ability.

OH MY GOD seeing you set probability here, i just realised for a totally different video where i couldn't figure out how you'd sequenced something, you'd probably made an arp and then just backed it off a bit with probabilities!

I'm new to the Circuit and you have helped me make sense of the thing! One question. I'm in patterns view and have two different synth voices in synth 1 and 2 in the first row. Now, if I select the second pattern row, any changes I make to the synth voice (1 or 2) also impacts the original voices in row 1. Does Circuit now allow for different synth voices from one pattern to another?

Is there program change to flip synths in a sequence/ pattern .... I’m still slooowww in using the OG Circuit, but the lack of synth flipping is meh for me... as I want to get some quirky mangling of the synth patches ....or have missed that completely. Great feature overview as per usual

Great video and walkthrough. I've spent so long bending my brain around the Elektron workflow I'm finding it hard to embrace how this nice piece of kit does its thing. But it seems very cool and a wonderful evolution to the Circuit line. (And I'm extremely jealous this thing has a battery and a Scene mode. I'd love that on Takt or Tone box).

Oh, quick question: Where do you feel this new Circuit fits between the Digitakt and the Deluge? I still need to test drive the latter one of these days. Stay safe, Jeremy!

So it does have screen to show BPM! :) Handy interaction to sequencer, automation, etc to my taste. Kinda beats bulkier standalones/controllers in one less expensive package (skipping less needed, more expensive components). Just with it could record audio-in into a single pad sample (don't need any editing on a sample. Just to capture performance from external synth, possibly driven by NC)
