While crossbows have larger draw weight, the energy received by the projectile also depends on the limb length. Because of that people tend to overestimate how powerful crossbows are compared to bows.

Crossbows can fire in volleys, while bows are permanently at fire at will mode. So, you can have poor’s man like and shot formations with crossbow.
