“I remember someone, someone by my side, turned his face to mine... and then I turned away, into the shade” my foreshadowing senses are tingling holy shit

Yea the singing is pretty and all, but holy shit the lyrics. The way flowers are used to represent naivety and the trusting bond set between her and Hades, Orpheus being personified life, while Hades is personified death. Yes the face value of the song is "oh damn I was wrong about death", but when dissected this isn't someone who wanted to die, this is someone who beautified death. Eurydice thought death as a graceful, painless pursuit. However, not only does she live with the guilt of leaving Orpheus behind, but she also lives with the physical pain of the labor work in the underworld. This is someone so easily wooed by the authoritative and pseudo-caring tone of Hades that she just decides to go along with it. Then she realizes a little too late that she fucked up bad. The message of this song is simple yes, but the way it is portrayed is just gorgeous lyrically

Can I just tell you how stupid I am.
As the song started playing I immediately scrolled through the comments to look for the lyrics.
And I got a little frustrated because I didn’t find any until I saw the freaking screen.

We don't deserve Eva Noblezada. What a queen.

You can tell she's not crying like she does when she performs it in the show. It sounds pretty here but I prefer it raw.

I think this song is a character study- its a comparison between the promises Orpheus and Hades made to Eurydice. Orpheus promised to keep her safe (love-nothing gonna wake me now) and Hades promised her security (death- nothing gonna wake me now) the chorus changes it's meaning when she remembers vs when she recalls her current reality.
she sings that she did something she thought was right and then realized that she regrets because Orpheus was who she loved, but she let security over the uncertainty of being alive fall between her and him. And she also realizes that she is safe the way she is now- dead. But being secure will not make her feel the way Orpheus does- since he loves her without the ornaments Hades offers. But like in real life, she forgets who loved her, and even who she was because she was metaphorically hungry- and do you notice that Hermes says "Eurydice was a hungry young girl. But she wasn't hungry no more. What she was was dead." So by getting what would have supposedly filled her hunger, she is still left empty, since nothing can satisfy her humanity except for the sacrifice of having to live in a cold, hungry world, depending on other people and on love to make it worth having lived.
That's not to say Orpheus couldn't have stepped up and helped her so she wouldn't have felt desperate enough to sign her life away- but that's the point. I think this show is about human flaws, even in the "gods" we look up to. We all carry one shared humanity with us until the day we die- so we have to live through cold and hunger and fear so that we love the warmth, the joining of hearts, and the flowers underfoot

One of the amazing things about this song is it makes for a great audition song; It’s great for lower range lady voices as well as getting a bit of the extra flair of acting. Trust me acting a little bit and putting emotion behind any song you sing for an audition gives you a nice edge

Lyrics because I can't read the ones on screen properly

What I wanted was to fall asleep
To close my eyes and disappear
Like a petal on a stream, a feather on the air
Lily white and poppy red
I trembled when he laid me out
You won't feel a thing, he said, when you go down
Nothing gonna wake you now
Dreams are sweet until they're not
Men are kind until they aren't
Flowers bloom until they rot and fall apart
Is anybody listening?

I open my mouth and nothing comes out
Nothing
Nothing gonna wake me now
Flowers, I remember fields
Of flowers, soft beneath my heels
Walking in the sun
I remember someone
Someone by my side
Turned his face to mine
And then I turned away
Into the shade
You, the one I left behind
If you ever walk this way
Come and find me lying in the bed I made
