Its actually intended to feed air into the watch so the tiny men moving the watch hands can breathe. Recommended to crack the valve 2 times a month for at least a minute

I don't know much about actual mechanism behind how escape valve works. But I think once we unscrew the normal crown and pull out crown, it think it would work just like what escape vale does. Doesn't it???? Just make a hole so watch can breath out!!!

The problem with omegas solution is that the helium escape valve has to be opened during decompression where as the deep sea does it automatically

The valve works automatically on my Citizen Autozilla. Most watches will never use the feature, but it's nice to have if you sat dive.

Helium is notoriously hard to contain. Its also why its used to leak test high to extremely high vacuum equipment

Can't you just unscrew the main crown to release the helium?

The reason helium is added to saturation diving breathing mixtures is to create a compatible gas mixture in terms of oxygen partial pressure and narcosis. It is not to manage decompression sickness.

If you are in the diving bell you can just loosen the case back off of the watch. Job done.
