Today on the show, we have Dr. Nilima Chitgopekar, she is an academic, mythologist, author, and one of the most learned people I have had the honour of meeting. She is an associate professor in the department of History at a college in Delhi, a writer, and a published poet. She has also been involved in making online films on gods and goddesses that have sold worldwide.

In this episode, we discuss how to make complex aspects of Hinduism more accessible, the divine feminine and divine masculine, and so much more. This is an incredibly deep and philosophical piece on shiva and shakti. We discuss the true representation of Lingam, devi energy, 6th sense, protection & more. Enjoy this episode.

Do you know Ambubasi mela which she referred to as the festival, is to celebrate womanhood, fertility and more clearly menstruation. The topic which is still considered to be taboo in many parts of India is celebrated with great pomp and show every year in Maa KAMAKHYA TEMPLE. Honestly I feel blessed to be born here in Guwahati and to have had visited the sacred place so early in my life. LOTS OF LOVE FROM ASSAM❤❤❤

I recently visited in the ambubachi festival and nothing what she said actually happened in the temple. Neither I could see any sacrifice in the temple, neither there was any blood on the floor. I was walking bare feet and my feet only had the normal dust when I came back. There were aghoris in the temple premises but you could only hear their mantra chanting while you are standing in the que and some in the temple also but what I could feel in the temple after standing in the que for almost 12hrs with full devotion was just heartwarming, magical, unforgettable. It felt like my soul was purified after entering the holy cave which was dark, only having some lamps but which could brighten up my whole world. It was an immense purifying and divine experience which filled me with a strong positive energy which I carry back with me till now. Though there is a place for sacrifice but I didn't see any sacrifices during my two day continuous visit to the temple. And lastly, I would like to say that it might be a place for tantrics but its not just meant for tantrics, its a place for all those who believe in Shakti. Lacs of devotees visit the temple during Ambubachi and only few can said to be tantrics. Maybe it all depends on the feeling with which you are going there, I went as a child and I could only see my mother.
Jai Maa Kamakhya ❤

Being an Assamese, I absolutely I agree that every region has their own specific way of doing. And Ma kamakya has some unique powers, which can be felt when you are present

Being from Assam, and have visited the Temple multiple times, I can say that whatever she said is abit exaggerated. The Sacrifice takes place in a well enclosed area, and you will not even know if the sacrifices are even happening if you don't want to, and there is no way you will even see blood anywhere other then the specific well enclosed area.

After listening to Rajarshi Nandi ji, I am not liking any other speaker talking about Tantra. He has deep knowledge of Trantra. Those who cannot even pronounce Ambubachi festival should not even speak about it.

I visited last year, and whatever i saw there was Devine experience.. saw a lamb keeping his neck on the temple steps and standing idle for 10 mins.. people were walking across but this kid doesn't move either as if it has been hypnotized for sacrifice... we all friends were watching it for long to experience this incident.. Generally lambs are Naughty in nature and can't stay at a place for a minute in idle state, thats their nature....truly unbelievable experience

Bali pratha in durga and mahakali devi and shakta pratha is the only thing which is not good and should be abandoned. Temple is a place for well being.. It should be place of bliss and happiness for all beings. Some beings taken there to spill their blood isn't a good thing at all...and most sad selfish thing.

Eastern India and Nepal have been deeply influenced by Saktism, especially after the fall of Gupta Empire. Much of the spiritual history of Bengal, Assam and Nepal have been very dark. Occult practises are drilled deep into the psyche of Eastern Indians. And it wasn't just animal sacrifices that were made, humans too were sacrficed(Narabali).

It was only after Chaitanya Mahaprabhu started Bhakti movement and Krishna worship that some of the darker practises began to wade off. Then came the Turks who converted a lot, and the traditions were lost.

Nevertheless, the greatest aghoris of all time still come from this region.

Maa Durga killed the shape shifting Mahishaasur representing the ego.
A priest at the Kaamakhya temple disclosed that the person who pays for the sacrifice has to bear that karma of killing it. Such rituals are performed for gaining immediate material benefits but there is a heavy price attached to it.
A better alternative is bhakti or loving devotion to the Divine Mother. Let Her be your charioteer and She will lead you to victory and prosperity.

I have visited Matas Temple few days ago on 4rth april. I will explain u the visiting procedure: First of the all the Mandir authorities made two lines for visitors, One is free and the for the other one u have to pay Rs 500 . If u r in the free line then u have to travel long and wait for around 6/7 hrs to visit the temple. But if u r in the VIP line u can visit the temple within 1/2 hr. After entering the main temple u can see the tantrics and the guards constantly pushing u around and telling u to roam around very fast and constantly asking for money saying like If u u will get ur wish fulfilled if u give them money which must be more than Rs 100 otherwise they dont accept 😂, pathetic they have made it such a business place. Plus if u give the tantrics some extra 1k or more u will get more facilities like they will tell u to hurry up and even they spoke mantras in ur ear and give u blessings.
N.B = The place itself is very poweful u will feel it once u reach there but the tantrics and the temple authorities made a huge business place in the name of very goddess.
Imagine the amount of money they make each day ...
1 visitor spent around 2/3 k on average level plus they have v.i.p members and facilities which will cost u more, now u can imagine the amount of money they make when more than 10 lacks people's visit every day. 😮

Talking about sacrifice . Yes it's a part of eastern India, In Bengal, tripura, Assam, everywhere. In our state Tripura, we have tripureswari kali temple where goats are sacrificed everyday. And a bull is sacrificed during Diwali period.
