How to Create a Dynamic Drop down list in Excel
In this advanced excel tutorial I’ll show you how to update items in drop down list automatically in excel. When you add, edit, delete or update an item to the list and your drop down list automatically update that is called a dynamic dropdown list. In this tutorial I’ll help you create and automatic drop down list.
Before that you need to understand what is drop down list? What is named ranges? And what is dynamic named ranges? Please check the videos below to learn them.
You that you learned dynamic named ranges, it's time to follow the instructions below to create dynamic drop down list in excel
Step 1: Click on the cell where you want your drop down list.
Step 2: Click on the data tab and then click on Data Validation.
Step 3: Under the validation criteria drop down select lists.
Step 4: Inside the source box write equal to and then your dynamic named range in my case its =Dyn_Expense
Step 5: Click ok and Done.
Now whenever you add, edit, delete & update your named range so will your drop down list.
