That summary of The Black Hawks is too real. LOL Also that cover art style is great.

I love how your plan to recover from jaw surgery was reading 11 chunky fantasies. Who needs rest anyway, amirite?! Obviously it turns out that your free time is more limited than anticipated when you recorded this, but I hope you can still get through a couple of these. I suspect that Animal Crossing update will at least help you make some headway with the audiobooks, and I can't wait to see what you get through.

I have Furies of Calderon on my radar since forever. I'm a huge Dresden Files fan (as you might have noticed), but I never really came around to actually picking anything else by Butcher... which doesn't make much sense :D. I hope you'll like it enough to recommend :)

Interested to hear what you think about other Jim Butcher books; I've been super curious! Wow, I really feel The Black Hawks synopsis.

Good luck with all of these! I’m sorry to hear your surgery was postponed, that sucks 😞 I’m finding that Dune is pretty good as explaining the world building as it goes, but it does tend to be a bit info-dumpy in places. But there’s a glossary in the back so if you can’t remember what a word means or an event was, you can check it. There are definitely sand worms! They’re a pretty solid presence throughout the whole book.

I’ve also vastly overestimated what I’m going to be able to read in November, but I’m justifying it to myself because I chose mostly short books and graphic novels 😂 hopefully I can get a bunch of them on audio too bc I will also be diving headfirst into ACNH.

Given what you said about liking N. K. Jemisin's work, I'm pretty convinced you'll like The Ninth Rain. No spoilers!

The Furies of Calderon is slow at first. It has a pacing issue as hes setting up the world. Push through the first 2/3s and it gets really good. All the other books are much better paced. I love this series too but every reread that first book tests my will to read.
The Aeronaut's Windlass is hit or miss for a lot of people. I again love it. It has talking cats....and not just believe that this is how a cat speaks. Jim knows what a cat sounds like when it all I'm gonna say.
