“On our 3rd anniversary, Jay & I decided we’re ready to become parents. But I had PCOD. So I knew getting pregnant wasn’t going to be easy.

But, I’d dreamt of it ever since I fell in love with Jay in 2010. We met through friends, & hit it off. We dated for 7 years & got married in 2018. Papa was hesitant at first, but in the end, our love conquered his heart & we tied the knot. But soon everyone began asking, ‘Bache?’ But I was only 25, struggling to adjust to this new life. I wasn’t ready to become a parent yet.

Then as time passed, we adjusted into each other’s lives & 3 years later, we felt ready to embrace parenthood, but there were complications–for months the result was negative. It affected me. Thankfully Jay was calm, he’d say, ‘𝙒𝙚’𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙤𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧.’ So with that in mind, I made some changes in my life…

I began working out & ate healthily & then in 2021 August, I took one last pregnancy test. I was so nervous that I couldn’t bring myself to take it. But, it was positive. I was so overwhelmed–I had to take a minute. And now I had to share this news with Jay. I wanted to cherish this moment & so I decided to surprise him…I handed him the test. At 1st, he thought it was a joke, but 2 pink lines changed our lives forever–the moment he realised he was going to be a father, he began crying; he hugged me & said, ‘𝙔𝙤𝙪'𝙫𝙚 𝙜𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙢𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙜𝙞𝙛𝙩 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧!’

The next 9 months were the best–Jay would put up with my cravings, & mood swings so patiently that I fell deeper in love with him. I remember during the 3rd trimester I’d crave sweets–so he’d get my favorite pastries. Every time I’d feel nervous about being a mother, he’d reassure me, ‘𝙒𝙚’𝙡𝙡 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣 𝙖𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙮.’ And I knew we would.

Finally, on 29th March, we welcomed our baby boy Gaarvik. You know when I 1st saw him, I blurted out, ‘𝙔𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙝𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙟𝙖𝙞𝙨𝙖 𝙣𝙖𝙝𝙞 𝙡𝙖𝙜𝙩𝙖.’ Everyone burst out laughing! Jay handed Gaarvik to me & as I held him, I was filled with this different kind of love…& all I wanted to do was love this tiny human with every fiber of my being. I guess that’s what motherhood is, right?”
