Happy 50th Anniversary, Planet of the Spiders!

A trailer for Planet of the Spiders, the fifth serial of Season 11 of Doctor Who, which first broadcast 14th December 1974, starring Jon Pertwee, Elizabeth Sladen, Nicholas Courtney, John Levene and Richard Franklin.

It was the last to star Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor in the show (before cameo appearances).

My first full-length Doctor Who trailer, I was keen to go for an appropriately more epic feel, to suit the moving and action-based nature of the show at this time.

Lovely work, I'd love to see this expanded to a full third Doctor era tribute

I have to be honest, I never really liked this story much. It has pacing issues and the effects being naff with the strange spider performances are a bit cartoonish at times. It also feels a bit too long, & the ending is such a difficult turn of events for fans.. having the two most popular doctors of classic who pass the torch is not an easy watch & it's compounded by the fact that there's no transitional sequence! They just move Jon out of the way, put Tom there.. and push the mix slider across! Feels very dated in that respect. The action is good stuff though. Jon will always be known for being very Bondesque! But he said it best.. "Oh dear, this is becoming monotonous"!
