Adler mentioned in the campaign that Hudson, woods, and Mason uncovered documents and intel from Menendez’s compound in “time and fate” and extracted information from kravchenko about a potential mole in the CIA (BO2). That means all missions were canonically done right and Hudson was so close to uncovering the truth about the Pantheon. He must’ve gotten too close that they betrayed them both and handed them off to Raul Menendez. They captured David as collateral and used him as hostage. He probably had someone close to him to deliver the intel to woods after he recovered from his injuries incase he was compromised. Hudson is dead. He was able to deliver the message before he was killed. Mason is alive. He shot him in the leg. Adler got blamed. As a matter of fact if that’s the case it could’ve been Mason who sent the files and tape towards woods and has been in hiding ever since. Remember what they told us in the beginning?

(I think all choices we made were good in Black Ops 2 and we stopped Menendez and his revolution while saving Mason, saving Chloe, and sacrificing Harper. We got all intel and strike team missions done perfectly. Best ending is canon ending.)
