Short story Dedicated to Phil and his 13.000 knights ( " I KNOW THEM ONE BY ONE ". Thought Phil. [ see below ] ). ● THOUGHTS OF A KING BEFORE BATTLE - " Young king Trey stood on the slope at the head of his squadron. It was not long before the frontal impact against the cavalry of the Evil one. He rode from one end of his line of knights to the other. Their horses stamped : were steeds born for war. Trey returned to the center of the line and raised his eyes to the sky and thought : " farewell, father, you who taught me to fight, today you'll see that i'm worthy of you. Farewell, mother, you who taught me the love for mankind and nature. Then turned his head to the left. " farewell, river, how many times i walked along your banks with my beloved". On his right a knight firmly held the blue flag with the three hearts and the three lions. " Veridor ", the king thought, " no one is more worthy than you to carry our banner : i know you boundless courage and will watch you fight like the hero you are". " farewell, my beloved Homeland, which i have sworn to defend at the cost of my life. ". A tear run down his cheek : " farewell, Dhalia, only great love of my life, i know that at this moment you are in the cathedral praying for me, for my return". Then Trey heard a dull noise grow louder and louder : against the sunlight saw a dark mass approaching fastly. The only thing he could clearly distinguish was a forest of spears pointing towards the sky. " here they are ! " thought, " how many are them !". His heart was beating in the chest more and more strongly. Suddenly Trey saw the enemy spears lowering. The noise of the galloping horses was getting louder. " but what are they doing ? They charge us ! What a big mistake they are doing ! When they get closer to us their horses will be tired. What a big mistake ! Now we have a chance !".The cavalry of the Evil one was getting closer and closer. Trough the slit of the helmet Trey could see the sparkles of their armors. He turned again to look at his knights : " I KNOW THEM ONE BY ONE : They are all heroes, and will fight to death ". The enemy was now closer to them : Trey's breath became more and more tumultuos, his heart seemed bursting in the chest. " NOT YET...NOT YET...THEY ARE SO CLOSE BUT NOT YET...NOW !". The king drew his sword which blade glinted in the rays of the raising sun, raised it to the sky then stretched his armored arm forward, pointing it at the enemy. " LET'S CHARGE THEM ! ", shouted Trey urging his steed. ■ THANKS FOREVER, PHIL. You know us one by one. God bless you and your family. Marco.
