I agree with Casey 200 %. it’s mostly the mismatch which makes people cheat, since they know they won’t be solving any thing like the problems in the interview on the job. It will be mostly maintaining some legacy jQuery code.

I... I got this question a few years ago in a interview, OVER THE PHONE. Guy expected me to give an answer talking over the phone while i was on a "break" during my working hours of my back then actual job, without as much as pen an paper in reach. Dude absolutely deranged, it isn't even something hard to do if you're sitting down in an *actual interview* but calling someone during work for that kind of shiet... 💀

19:20 The Chris Hecker style interview is THE BEST. I think the jobs i've gotten have been because it's been a mix of leetcode and drilling down on my resume. And I can explain every single issue i've had and how I expanded or moved on from a project etc. etc.
And it also feels much more relaxed and like you're actually working with the person.

It's wrong to cheat and I wouldn't out of principle (to my own determent), but it's not wrong to want to be able to make a living and put food on your table. If the choice is to get pre-filtered on a nonsense question and live forever in student loan debt or play it fast and loose and risk actually getting hired for something you can probably still do I can understand what would lead people to cheating.
