I have a 2011 tundra platinum and I am just three months out of the extended warranty. It costed me $2000 to get the pumps, inlet, and the valves replaced. Thanks to Toyota.

Toyota is NOT the only manufacture that uses air pumps. In order to meet EPA smog standards. Smog pumps have been used on Fords, Dodge and GM products for decades. After replacing the pump with either a Toyota new pump or a Cardone rebuilt pump., it would be a good idea to drill a hole at the bottom of that inlet pipe to allow any water to drain out BEFORE it reaches the blower motor. Some Tundra owners have rerouted that hose or replaced that hose and adapted other hoses to avoid the new pump from being damaged with moisture. Make sure you order new clips for your inner fender well from Toyota to ensure that shield is there to protect the pump in the future.

I did that already and realized after that it was still good and just needed to replace the air injection check valve . Even though they tell you to replace both you really don’t need to . Great video anyway.

Looks like the same set up on the 5.7. I pressured sprayed that driver side wheel well and noticed afterwards a code p2441. Probably shot water up into it. I’ve been running fine with that code for a year.

Awesomely done again. Your right, I didn't know S$%T! Only that I have a @2, 541.39 quote to do both side secondary valves and air pumps. With this video I see why you SHOULD do both side and BOTH Air Pumps. If they have water.. they'll probably work their way back up to the Secondary Valves.

Thanks for this! I was thinking my transmission was going bad but when my check engine light came on the OBD scan said P2445. Ordered the part for next day air delivery tomorrow and will be using this tutorial!

You have the best video and explanation of how to replace a new Pump on this Tundra vehicle. I don't know where you live but If you ever come by in the Pacific area, I will pay for your hotel. thanks a lot

Good vid and helpful. You menttioned it and I saw another vid doing it...drilling a whole in that black bell housing to let the water drain...

But A) what does drilling a hole do that it shouldn't? Like, I'm assuming the housing is there a for a reason. Dirt crud getting into a bad thing? B) what else can be done to keep water from collecting? You mentioned flipping the hose upside down but that hose looks form fitting and so I dont' understand what flipping it up would do?

Cheers

My 2010 has two and you have to figure out which one to replace because they're made different. Dealership wanted 2500 to do this. Toyota had warrantied this 10 years or 150k miles. Of course mine was out of warranty. Thanks for the awesome vid man. Id buy you a beer if I could.

hey man did you have any loss of power when driving? almost like the engine would rev up but transmission wouldn't switch gears? I have the p2447 code so I'm hoping this pump is the issue

Do you know where the pump is for bank 1? This is the bank 2 one. The second one was in the same location and it's extremely difficult finding info on the other one. Thx and great video.

I’m breathing heavy too and I ain’t saved almost three grand yet. But really, thanks man. Did you have to clear the codes and the dash, or did it clear on its own?
