Space Engineers Stabilized Clang Drive

Space Engineers Stable Clang Drive. The Contained Clang Drive (CCD), is a stabilized version of the clang drive that is easy to use and extremely resource efficient. After discovering a way to use gyroscopes to make a motorcycle, I immediately thought of using the same method on a clang drive.

I'm sorry but every time I see someone deadpan explaining how "This really great, cost effective, strategy to make a ship fly to space is actually incredibly fast and is also good, but make sure to avoid centralization" while the craft just kind of noiselessly yeets itself upward I just cant describe the feeling

When you were talking about your first attempted Clang drive, what crashed, the game or the drive? Both are entirely possible for the almighty Clang.

I love broken physics in these kinds of games, most of the time.

Imagine making a ship using the clang drive that is also armed with the clang rail guns

Another cool way to fuellessly propell a ship is a rotorgun.
Not as fast as a Clang-drive but generally more stable, and can be used as a weapon. (Other than suicidal ramming, that is.)

Its so smooth. I wanna build a ship around it

If you put four clang drives on beams, like quadcopter rotors, you can stabilize the rotation by tuning the power of specific drives.

The rotation force these drives provide is unreal, and if chained by a properly tuned script, can hold the ship level like a rock. Or translate the movements of your mouse with enough precision to play a first person shooter. Any phantom forces are eaten away by the script.

I'm transitioning my ships away from using gyroscopes entirely, clang drives do the job so much better.

Almost any time I build something with complex mechanic interactions I unintentionally invent a new type of Clang Drive.

Dunno, rotation merge drive accelerates to max faster, works in all 6 directions, and can be quite precisely throttled programmatically. It occupies roughly the same volume and does not cause any phantom momentums ever - craft is stable even without a single gyro. I coded a wrapper that allows all my drone scripts work on top of merge drive with all features, like dampening, WASD control, gravity negation, keeping fixed velocity or altitude, automatic landing, combat, etc. I made one in survival and it never failed me through 100ish hours of that run. Door drive probably better on PMWs like torpedoes but even there does not look like worth it. So sayin that this makes thrusters obsolete while flying uncontrollably in one direction maybe a bit an overstatement here ^^

never seen an inverted piston/rotor door drive before

Very elegant solution. Also "subcriebe" at the end. :D
