People often make these things the pinnacle of standards. To the point they excuse aberrant behavior elsewhere in the relationship.

Just a reflection from a recent breakup. The other person might not be what you want, not commiting, not giving enough. But I recognize I made more disappointments than he did, in more fundamental ways. I dont know how to have high standards when I dont meet them.

Emotional maturity, respect, fights/negotiates fairly, positivity (as opposed to negativity), vulnerable and honest, does not cross your boundaries, splits the workload evenly in and outside the household without being reminded, likes your friends, pets and family, has been in therapy (growth), and puts you first before blood relatives and friends.
