LEARN ABOUT GEOCACHING HERE!

Geocaching is a fun and rewarding hobby that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and skill levels. For those who are new to geocaching, the prospect of finding hidden treasures in the great outdoors can be an exciting experience. However, it can also be a bit intimidating, especially for those who are unfamiliar with the hobby or don't know where to start. Here are some tips on how new geocachers, or "muggles," can get involved with geocaching:

2. Find a cache near you: Once you've created your account, use the search function to find a cache near you. You can filter your search by location, difficulty, and terrain, depending on your preferences.

3. Read the cache description: Before you head out to search for a cache, be sure to read the cache description carefully. This will give you important information about the cache, including its location, difficulty level, and any hints that might help you find it.

4. Bring a pen and some trinkets to trade: When you find a cache, be sure to sign the logbook and leave a trinket if you have one to trade. This is a fun way to participate in the geocaching community and leave your mark on the cache.

5. Follow the geocaching etiquette: As you get more involved with geocaching, it's important to follow the etiquette of the hobby. This includes leaving the cache exactly as you found it, respecting private property, and being mindful of other geocachers and muggles who may be in the area.

If you want to learn more about getting involved with the geocaching community, you can subscribe to Hullsome on YouTube and follow me on TikTok and Instagram. Adding a warning for these types of caches seems like a great idea tbh

Definitely banned, not only does this pose a threat to yourself (and any onlookers who might mimic you), it also is a danger to whatever those wires are powering

Caches like this always make me question if the CO got the required permission. I can barely believe the power company would be like "yeah, sure you can attach something near live power lines which people will be prodding and poking for".

I don’t have any involvement in this pastime aside from watching occasional shorts, but I feel like caches should not be allowed near dangerous infrastructure. Bare minimum warnings should be required but preferably not allowed at all.

Honestly thought this video was about the Private Property: No Trespassing sign.

Gotta be careful around those too.

"Warning: this cache requires you to fondle a whole electrical box"

Edit: Not the people in the replies really defending putting your fingers in an electrical box 😭

"Shouldn't be allowed" yeah I'm pretty sure that's already not allowed. It's tampering with things that you shouldn't be on private property.

There's a difference between open world and being directly next to live wires these should not be a thing

as someone who had to resuscitate a man cuz he got shocked, I am firmly in the camp that caches should not be anywhere near high voltage or heavy highway areas. that's how people get killed.

Common sense should tell you not to open anything with electric stuff in it. A magnet or something atrached outside the box is fine- the boxes themselves aren't electrified. If you're not sure what you're messing with, just skip it.

Yeah… I can see how encouraging people fondling around every part of an electrical box might be slightly controversial💀

Yeah that cache is a horrible spot. First, prodding around electrical equipment can be dangerous. Second, it’s next to a “Private Property, No Trespassing” sign. So it’s probably not even legal to place it there.

Electrical engineers work very hard to keep stuff safe and idiot proof.

I just assumed you weren’t afraid of spiders doing all this stuff- that grasshopper spooking you means you really go out there risking it all for this hobby- respect!

Imagine your city has a blackout because someone searched for some toy in a capsule

Does anyone know what that red and blue thing is in the back at 0:21?

Going around messing with the power stations sure seems criminal to me

The ones that are pretty safely not part of the infrastructure I think are okay - e.g., a magnetic gang box blank plate on the side of an electrical box, or a hide-a-key stuck under a power meter. Ones like this where you have to disassemble what appears to be actual infrastructure should be, IMO, disallowed. There's the safety concern but also I'm concerned that someone will damage equipment or inadvertedently disable some critical system.

Hiding a cache in an electrical box is a pretty wild idea

He dismantled 15 electrical boxes prior to finally finding this cache
