It is hard for people who must answer calls from potential clients like realtors, sales, and contractors.

Its so hard because sometimes you're expecting calls from potential employers

some people own businesses and don’t have the luxury of not answering calls or returning calls to numbers you don’t recognize. this is a problem, and it should be fixed.

That's why watching scam baiters like Kitboga and Scammer revolts wasting scammers time & deleting the files on their computers brings immense joy to my life

If you receive a call from a number you don’t recognize, even if it comes from the same city or town you live in as well as same area code and prefix, don’t answer it. If the call is indeed legitimate, the caller will leave a message on your voicemail. There are some people that feel they have to answer every phone call they receive, and I am sure those who have allowed themselves to be scammed are regretting it.

Worthless news story, the scammers clone valid numbers and they are usually from area codes you live in. 99% of scam calls I receive are from my own area code in the Southeastern USA and are usually cellphone numbers that they somehow make show on your caller ID when most likely they are calling from India. I used to try and waste as much of their time as I could and even throw in some verbal abuse for good measure, but they are hip to it now. Simple rule, NEVER give personal info over the telephone

I answer unknown calls and talk to them with my baby voice. After I ask them questions about why they are calling my mom, they usually hang up🤷🏾‍♀️

I was once called from Florida saying that they were having trouble with a supposed property I bought valued at 600, 000. If I had that much money, I would have easily finished paying my student loans and then had lots of spare change! 😂

There's a lot of medical insurance scams too. You'll get a letter in the mail with your medical insurance logo/header, and it will ask you to call a number to contact an outside company to help with your medical needs. I just call my provider, and ask to see if any medical letters were sent out. It's so easy to be fooled, and it can happen to anyone. Be careful out there!

PSA: just don’t answer any phone call with a number you are not familiar with. If it’s someone you personally know or someone that needs to contact you, they would find other means than just a random number they are reaching you from.

I have a phone rule, if you are not in my phone contacts, I dont answer the call, then I will block the number. Usually after the phone rings three time, the scammers hangs up. It also helps that I dont have my voice mail set up. If your bank calls or you get a text message that says your account has suspicious activity on it, dont call the number on the phone. Call the number on the back of your card.

These calls are annoying to everyone, but my doctor gets these calls while at work -- how disruptive! If you block one number, they just switch to another one. How to stop them??

When my kids were younger, I answered my phone no matter what the number was, because it could be somebody I don't know calling to tell me something regarding my kids or they could be cslling from a friend's number or emergency number.
Also as a subcontractor, you're not going to recognize some numbers that you're getting calls from. Someone else mentioned potential employers.

I have ringtones for my husband, two daughters, mom, & best friend... If it's not their song, I don't even look 😂👍

If I don’t see a caller ID or a number I know, they better leave a voicemail on who they are and what they want

Love picking up spam/scam calls pretending that they just called a murder victims phone and I'm a detective

these scammers prey on the vulnerable. just the other week i was at the bank and the tellers were helping this older lady because she was trying to send someone a box with a wad of 10k! they kept asking what it was for, and she didn't even understand what it was for! all while her phone was going off the hook with the scammer trying to make sure she went through with it. one of the tellers finally answered and basically told him to F OFF!

I don’t ever answer unless I know who it is or wait for a voicemail and figure out if it’s legit

There have been times where these scammers call my house numerous times a day, and although I never answer, just the constant ringing alone is so annoying that I've been fantasizing about answering and yelling obscene demands at these scammers to leave me alone and never again call back. This gave me the great-granddaddy of all good reasons not to.
