I always thought a UNIT:Torchwwood series would be an interesting take where the two organisations would work together. Where the Torchwood team would do the things that the UNIT team could not

Very sensible and balanced overview. John Barrowman has faced a lot of consequences for actions that, as far as we know, not a single person has ever made a complaint about. Sadly it seems to be taking a toll on the fella. I hope that Russell brings Captain Jack back, either in an occasional Who appearance or in a new Torchwood series/spinoff.

Bring John back as jack! We all make mistakes in our past. We learn from them and grown with them. That's what makes us, who we are! John has apologised for his actions. We should forgive. That doesn't mean we shouldn't forget. But it's sad to see that all Johns talents and joy he has brought to the world is being clouded by mistakes that he made. I personally think that John helped the reboot of Dr who's success massively. He brought a personality to TV that was needed for the newer younger viewers to relate to and for the older viewers to accept a changing world. All done with brilliant humour. I think his character helped the older generation to accept the LGBTQ+ community. And as the world and our race is forever changing, I think jack is a character that everyone can relate to in one way or another. We also know alot of the characters personality and experience and I think he could help with alot of the issues we as a race are dealing with. Bring John back as jack!

I liked all the regular characters on Torchwood and it was heartbreaking to see some of them killed off. They all contributed to the series, and in some cases, like Ianto, Rhys, and Toshiko (she was gorgeous) developed their characters more and more. I couldn't take to John Hart, though. It also made a nice change to see a series based in Cardiff.
It would make no sense to exclude John Barrowman (He is almost immortal, after all) as he is not only a great actor, he is a gentleman.
I know that he is older now and has grey hair, but if he eventually becomes the Face of Bo, then this might be a slow ageing? Just a thought.
PS. We've seen John Barrowman live on stage- great showman.

I’d love to have Barrowman back. Seeing him in person several times, I just don’t want to miss more Capt Jack time. But also a merging at UNIT and Torchwood could be fantastic!

I've been discussing this with friends/ family and I've said that if a continuation (as unlikely as it seems) doesn't go ahead then they still have the other Torchwood locations, such as the base in the Glasgow and the other which is lost and has a unknown location to use to keep RTD's original large-scale word building in focus

Anyone who follows Big Finish knows full well that Torchwood can survive quite happily without Captain Jack, and even if you limited it to characters who'd already appeared in the Torchwood series you could easily have a full team of Gwen, Rhys, Andy, and Martha Jones.

Or you could just as easily have an anthology series spread throughout the history of Torchwood, from the Victorian era, to the present, to the far future of Captain Zachary Cross Flane.

Yes, I would love to see John Barrowman back as Captain Jack and, quite frankly, the hate he's getting is totally undeserved and fuelled purely by a bunch of morons who have too much time to spend on social media (it'd be interesting to dig into the ringleader's pasts and see what skeletons surfaced). But Torchwood could continue without him until a time when he can be brought back.

thanks for the info. for Torchwood to come back that would be cool, I would need to go through the audiobooks to be up to date, yeah I had heard bits about the BTS drama, but from the sounds of it they all handled it like adults

With Russell T Davies back at the helm, it wouldn't be surprising for things to be more like 2005 than 2022. Having occasional appearances on "Doctor Who" from the "Torchwood" principals would seem to be logical, especially as Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson settle into their roles and establish their Doctor and companion relationship. And you know Captain Jack isn't dead. Whether or not "Torchwood" would be revived is another question.

Captain Jack is an iconic character. I hope there is a reboot and Barrowman is back. If the cast has forgiven him and are willing to work with him again, that should be enough.

Honestly i hope torchwood is back definitely.

The team I’d like would be Gwen Cooper, Martha Jones, Captain Jack Harkness, Rhys, Rex, Kate Stewart and Micky smith.

1.Gwen- she’s an amazing actress and the best living character.

2.Martha Jones- I’ve always wanted to see as a full on part of torchwood as was set up in Journeys end.

3.Captain Jack Harkness- I like jack, I can’t be sure John Barrowman didn’t do anything bad but it seems like an innocent prank tbh.

4.Rhys- just makes sense for the story

5.Rex- you need him to wrap up the cliffhanger but I wasn’t huge on his character.

6.Kate Stewart- she’d have an amazing dynamic with the team and I think she could be a unit presence in the show as part of the story.

7.Mickey Smith- I think it makes sense for Mickey’s character although I don’t know anything about his allegations at all.

Tbh only reason I’d want Rex back is to clear up the cliff hanger.

John Barrowman, although he kind of did apologise about his inappropriate actions at the time (2008 - 2009), did it again on the set of Arrow & was told before going on I’m A Celebrity to not do it. And when it was brought up in 2021, he once again only half heartedly apologised & has blamed it since on Cancel Culture, which is a very childish & stupid thing to do.
I don’t agree at all with any harassment that has been sent Barrowman’s way & I am happy to see things aren’t bad between him, Eve and the rest of the cast, but I still feel John should be accountable for his actions. It would be uncomfortable for many (including myself) for him to come back to Doctor Who/Torchwood as the whole thing would feel like an abuse of power & status. If anyone other then the main characters did what he did (whether that be guest cast members or people of the production), they would be fired & blacklisted. Everything that has happened to John now is basically everything that would of happened to him before if there was equality between everyone in the production.

All John really has to do is truly apologise, not blame it on Cancel Culture & put an effort in rebuilding his image as a person. After that, then perhaps he will be trusted again to be on Doctor Who. But as of now, he’s still extremely controversial & not taking proper account for his actions

I believe it will come back eventually. RTD has made it pretty clear that he wants to turn Doctor Who into a franchise like DC Comics or Marvel. Where else better to start than Torchwood?

I can see RTD creating several new spin-off series or movies in addition to reviving Torchwood. There’s a lot of Doctor Who content from classic and new who that can be explored for spin-offs.

Some I’d like to see is a Unit spin-off, a Clara and Me/Ashildr spin-off with their “long way around” adventures in the diner Tardis. Another one could be the Doctors daughter (made from dna copy). She regenerated even though the Doctor thought she couldn’t. The actress is actually married to Tennant as well lol
