The latest in my series of 'Tough A Level Physics Questions' - this one is a walk through of an A Level short answer question on electromotive force, internal and load resistors. It is a great revision question on electrical circuits for year 12 and year 13 physics students.
The circuit diagram below shows a battery of electromotive force (emf) 12 V and internal resistance 1.5 Ω connected to a 2.0 Ω resistor in parallel with an unknown resistor, R. The battery supplies a current of 4.2 A
