I have had my 2019 C-HR for over two months, and I love it! It's not fast off the line but I've never had a problem merging, and it's really fun to drive.

Thanks for the review. I test drove this car last week and I bought one! I bought a 2 tone, 2019 Toyota C-HR XLE. In the 2 tone paint scheme I got, the car looks stunning but the 2 things that really made me feel good about forking over my hard earned cash was (1) the legendary "Toyota quality" and (2) the safety features. Point, blank I want a car that will out last my warranty and Toyota's do that. Just one example of that quality is the CRT transmission. While other car companies such as Honda and Nissan use cheaply made outsourced transmissions that can fail after 80, 000 miles, Toyota makes their CVTs in house and had 20 years of CVT building experience starting from their Prius. I actually got a great 6 year bumper to bumper warranty with my car. The safety features and tech in this car are OUTSTANDING! No other car offers the safety and tech the C-HR offers at this price segment and when it comes to my family, safety is important. Also love the 3 drive modes, "Normal", Sport" and "Eco". For those who quickly dismiss this car as slow, try "Sport" mode. It will not turn it into a Supra, but it is more aggressive off the line. I am also adding some Toyota TRD performance parts available to further enhance the stance and performance of my car. Again I LOVE this vehicle!

What's amazing about the C-HR is that even the base model LE variant has standard AEB with pedestrian detection, and iy only costs $20k.

Here in South Florida you see them in every corner.

I like sporty on the outside and not sporty on the inside. I don’t travel, in town driving only. But every model should have a 6 cylinder option. This is the most sporty, unique beautiful car I’ve seen in years!!! We are short people, and I don’t have many passengers. My car, I pay for is for my comfort and enjoyment. Love this car.

I own the 2018. It is comfortable and looks good to me but I can confirm, it is very slow.

I have owned a 2019 C-HR XLE and get 30 mpg. Acceleration isn’t an issue for me. I owned a 2016 Highlander XLE beforehand and find the C-HR is a lot more fun to drive.

I love this car. This car is mainly for single people, couples with no kids and empty-nesters. Big difference from driving a large or regular SUV. I wanted a compact stylish coup and found this one. I can park it anywhere.

If I can easily merge with traffic on the German autobahn (no speed limits) with my 122hp C-HR hybrid, how fast are you guys driving over there 😁

I am disabled and this car is easy for me to get in and out. It climbs the very steep snow covered driveway to my rural home. It has great road manners and cornering and with ice tires it is secure on winter driving conditions in Alberta. It has sufficient acceleration for the way we drive up here in Canada as any more would dump one into the ditch from icy roads for example. Toyota builds a car for dependability and the vehicle is very quiet and the sound quality of the stereo is good with all of its safety features. Note it has different handling characteristics when switching from sport to eco which is very cool. Its suspension is sophisticated and the chassis is wider than expected for a subcompact so Corning is marvellous and a tight U turning is a surprise. The rear video is good for backing up. We all love this car from ages 30-78 so all bases covered.

This comes with full stop to go dynamic cruise control baseline. It is a awesome feature that is normally only on expensive upper trim models. It has a lot of quality of life features that make it probably the best commuter car for the price (especially for places with heavy traffic).

I own this vehicle and honestly I don’t think this would be a good car for a family. Great for a single person or an empty nester. I don’t find the performance of this vehicle any more lackluster than other four-cylinder 2 L non turbo engines. And definitely has more room than buying a Civic or Corolla. The HRV looks super boring inside and out, and Mazda or Hyundai let’s face it not going to last you nearly as long a Toyota. This car definitely has more of a sporty feel than anything else in this category and drives very nice. I also like Toyotas CVT for a 4cyl engine it’s extremely smooth, you’re not constantly hearing a transmission that sounds like a sewing machine trying to find gears like other 4 cylinders. I think as long as you know what you’re buying you’ll be extremely happy with this vehicle if you’re looking for a suped up roadster this isn’t it.

Coming in with a pro/Cons list of my own as I own a 2019 model as shown in this video. Quick Background on myself, am a mid 40's retired Military veteran who is disabled. I required a vehicle which was Good on Gas, got me from point A - B safely was reliable and fairly Cheap. A Grocery getter as I do not work. Ive yet to have an issue merging on highways, it gets up to speed just fine. I mean unless people enjoy cutting off others I guess?

First off, I did not buy this car to Race in. The 4 banger more than gets the Job done and even though its not AWD, when equipped with Good Winter tires is more than capable of handling Canadian Prairie Winters. Speaking of, this Car warms up quickly even in 30 below so bonus points there!
The car has also been Good, not Great on Gas. With how little I drive a tank lasts me two weeks so I cant complain too much, it has a smaller tank than what Im used to driving. (Cadillac prior to this) Upper 400km Range IIRC upon Fill up, which from just under a 1/4 tank is $43 current prices (Dec 24) to fill. CANT COMPLAIN THERE.

As for reliability, I have yet to run into any issues that warrant a visit to the local dealer. One of my TPMS sensors died but boo hoo, I now have to deal with a tire pressure light or pay $50 to have it reprogrammed. Spilt Milk type of deal.

The highway ride in this car is great, I find it very comfortable. I am 1/2 deaf so as for road noise, I dont noticed anything but a slight hum of the tires on pavement. Glorious Tinnitus.

The cockpit of the vehicle is well laid out. Nothing seems out of place for anything. It even has an AUTO button for the automatic highbeams that detect oncoming traffic and dims the lights automatically if you use the Highbeams at all. I rarely do as the standard setup works perfectly fine.

Odds and Ends .. This is where the minor things pop up. First, The Cruise Control which is connected to the sensors is unable to be utilized WITHOUT said sensors. This means that if you live in areas with snow or heavy stormy conditions, the cruise control will shut itself down as soon as the sensors become covered in snow or visibility becomes less than ideal. Even in rain conditions on a clear of traffic highway it shuts down, unlike a standard cruise control equipped vehicle. At least I havent done enough to determine if you can disable to sensor/cruise ability but it also is connected to the auto braking/speed matching cruise control.
Second is the paint quality. Maybe not so much quality as toughness. After a single winter season, I suffered several small rock chips above the windshield of the vehicle on the roof. These went unnoticed by me until this past summer. I now have multiple rust bubbles forming which I will be taking to the body shop in the spring to have repaired and then have a protective wrap installed to ensure it doesnt happen again.
Third, During extreme Cold conditions which is normal here in the Canadian Prairies, the Hood latch CAN become frozen open meaning if you open the hood it will not close and lock the hood when you close it. The cable and mechanism become an ice block and need to be warmed up in a garage or with some sort of heater before you will be able to close it. This REALLY sucked at 45 below ...

Thats everything I have after owning it since 21. I love the thing. It doesnt have the same guts my Camaro or Cadillac had but current economics determined I required cheaper on gas options. Id buy it again if I were to do it over again, its done all Ive ever asked of it.

Car is an 8/10 for me. It does everything I needed it for and then some.

Lastly .. The Ride height .. its NICE.

You hate the toyota brand. That's not the presentation is a defamation of toyota brands. I have a c-hr and it's not the way you say it is a reliable car, small consumption, good endowment, quality interior ....

I was looking at buying one of these. The curves are beautiful eyes catching feature. However after doing some research looks like it lacks a lot. I'm not a speed demon so that's not a factor but I hear ppl complaining how slow it is. I'm still intrested in this car the 2020 model will make or break my decision

A perfect car for me. I value the look, and fuel economy. I used to have a VOLVO V50 T5 AWD, with 220 HP, but it pulled 1.1 liters per mile (Swedish).

It cost almost 3 times more to drive.
The only thing I miss is AWD.

I've had my 1.8l hybrid since the end of Feb and love it! In my last car ( a 1.2l Skoda Yeti) i was averaging 35-40mpg so far the best i've had my my CHR is 80.1mpg! Typically i would spend £25-30 in fuel every 2 weeks, since Feb it's gone down to around £15 for 2 weeks. not had any problems with speed issues lol if anything to stop me getting speeding tickets i tend to drive in eco mode as i do have a heavy right foot lol and if i want to annoy boy racers at traffic lights then i put it into sports mode :D :D :D lol
