Forza Horizon 2 Review (Xbox One)

Back when reviews began to roll out for GRID Autosport, I began thinking about getting into reviewing, as they missed some key points that I as a person would discuss. So here is my first review, this time with Forza Horizon 2.

How can you call yourself a real driver when you use assist? Its more rewarding to turn everything off and keep Ai on medium or hard.

Nice review Theo. Can't wait for you to review DriveClub. It obviously lacks that customization and things like that, but I've played it for like 6hours now and I can say the handling model is very good in my opinion. It's actually challenging and you can drift or you can drive precisely. Also the cars feel very realistic and overall immersive. I don't really care about there being "only" 50 cars, because they all feel good to drive yet all feel different. The detail and sounds is very good also. About the tracks, they're set in beautiful locations, though all of them pretty much near mountains and I know mountains make for great views (views are important in a game as beautiful as this) but I hope the next FREE dlc location is something a bit different. I would say the only con of DriveClub is probably the lack of customization. And atm servers are down and that's kind of a disappointment but I'm enjoying DriveClub at the moment. Not trying to praise DriveClub here or anything, but just telling my opinion. However, I think it has got way too much hate and bad prep from people who haven't played it properly. And oh, I think FH2 looks pretty awesome, I would definitely get it if I had an Xbox One, but bad thing is though that the handling is a bit too drifty in my opinion, judging from gameplay, seems like it takes no effort to drift. Also don't like the fact you are on road only 50 percent of the time.. Otherwise looks pretty cool though.

so after a year of playing this, the crew and driveclub i'm still playing fh2, cause it is fun playing. the crew wasn't as good as i expected and driveclub was really short. played fh2 over 200h now and still into it :)

Not sure how I feel about your review because it's clear that you're very biased towards the crew. I mean you point out how there are a couple annoying barriers, bad offroad physics and not so great replay value, yet you don't mention things like the 240 car list, great photo mode, or barn finds, and I honestly feel like you didn't mention those because it's all the things that driveclub and the crew don't have.

I agree that the game isn't perfect, they could improve on the offroading vs onroading part, and imo the Colorado map feels more loveable, even though the European map is technically better. Also the roadtrip events system feels restrictive when its the only way to hold single player races. I liked Horizon 1's selection of events, but finding an event suitable for you car was tricky.

However, this game is perfect for just test driving cars you read about in the magazines. It may not be fully realistic, but its handling model does a good job at conveys the joy and passion of driving awesome cars through nice roads.

In you giving this game a positive review, you also make it seem negative, especially odd since you spent over 60 hours on this game and have said there is not much to do after completion. 60 hours is a crazy amount of time to have done things. I'm 10 hours in and have only completed 3 championships. Online is fun, barn finds are fun, customizing is fun, decals and photo mode are fun. Is this game worth the purchase of an Xbox One? Is any one game worth the purchase of a console? Nope, but this game makes a really compelling argument to do that. The fun factor is ridiculous. I think your expectations were set really high, which is why you seemed a bit let down. How high are your expectations for the crew? Or project cars or Driveclub?

You are so wrong, you said this game isnt worth getting for just the console, you are dead wrong, forza horizon 2 is worth buying just the console, its a amazing racing game that makes you keep coming back, and with forza 3 and forza 6 and 7 its definitely worth getting a xbox one for or even the xbox one x..

If you hate progression, play Forza, get the Hub and level up a bajillion times for free cars, credits and achevvies.
THEN get the 10 Year Anniversary pack and cash out.
Than get Motorsport 6.
And keep it going.

Having beat the 360 version I'd like to make a little review for those wondering wether to buy it. I've seen alot of people saying its a pile of crap. Its not. But its not horizon 2. Graphics wise it looks alot like horizon 1. And horizon 1 was a good looking game. The lighting effects look good, the car models look good, the sky looks good. Only things are the textures on things like distant mountains dont look good, and the draw distance on some objects is pretty poor. Some noticable pop-in on small things. The shadows on trees are kinda poor, the amount of foliage is greatly reduced. Overall, the graphics look pretty darn good for 360. But it IS NOT COMPARABLE to Xbone. The one version completely blows it out of the water. But in reality, it doesn't look bad. Its just the one version looks outstanding. But its the 360. Its not a next gen console, so its not a next gen game. If you can get past that, the graphics are ok. The map is the same as the one version, except you cant go to the docks west of nice (wtf?) and you cant go in the golf course (WTF?) also all of the fences and trees are INDESTRUCTIBLE. All of them. If you see a fence, it will stop you. There is far less objects spread throughout the world. This is especially noticable in cities. Also, very little traffic. Nice feels deserted. There is no tuning, but horizon 1 didn't have it either so whatever. There is no weather, but horizon 1 didn't have that either and we didn't really miss it. There are less cars, but still over 200, and alot of cars that aren't in fm4 or horizon 1. (Like c7 vette) if I'm not mistaken, the barn finds are the same as the one version. Don't worry, the bowler is in the game, you win it in a showcase. But the biggest dissapointment BY FAR, is that THERE IS NO ONLINE FREE-ROAM. Thats right. They really, REALLY screwed up the multiplayer. You can only do online roadtrip, which in this case is a misnomer, because you dont drive to the events, you load there. No user created games. So at least you can still play infected/king. But the only freeroam you can do is joining the session of a friend. So at least you can drive with friends. But no puplic servers. And that might not even hurt so hard if this game had a story. Horizon 1 had a story. In the end you beat darius and won his Ferrari. Here you just do repetitive races again and again. At the end its like "congrats! You won heres $100k!" Im like I need alot more than that for a p1...

So its actually not bad. But not great. If you're not going to get a Xbox one and loved horizon 1, you'll like this. But do not expect it to be anything close to the one version. It feels like a big map dlc and car pack for horizon 1 with crap multiplayer. So... Horizon 1.5. But still, horizon 1.5 is horizon 1.5. Im still happy I got the game and am having fun playing it with friends. It makes a good companion to horizon 1.

In conclusion, if you can afford a One, get the one version FOR SURE. but if you cant, the 360 version is still something. But don't buy it expecting it to be horizon 2. If you buy it remember, its a last gen game.

Forza Fast and Furious! I want it.
I mean basically a Forza Horizon 3 with Fast and Furious theme.
Not just a DLC...
Maybe just my opinion
By the way, great review! Depending on the next Forza i may buy this. But as I said, I want a Fast and Furious game.

After 120 on gta you can start buying armor a lot more than you could before for example you can buy 5 body armor and if you armor goes you can just equip more of your armor and the more you level up the armor you can keep in your inventory
