I figured it out. When someone wants to join the SSP, they make up a fake story they think will fit into the lore. And the previous members don't call them out for being fake, because they might also out themselves as fake. All of them think they are the only fake ones, not realizing they all are

Not gonna lie. The idea of Oki being trained by an evil clone of Kevin Spacey on the moon, alongside Mr Beast, while being the reincarnation of the black samurai, Yasuke, sounds like the coolest thing ever. You could make a novel out of that.

The part about your story becoming your reality and how natural it felt for Oki to tell his, really resonated with me. I did LARP with a single character over the course of one year and it was very surprising to me how easy it was to take a completely made up story very serious, even leading to emotional involvement.
