After a lot of deliberation, I preordered the box set from the Beatles website. I got 10% off, which brought it in at a price I was comfortable paying. It arrived this morning. I’m now putting it aside for Christmas - a gift to myself. Looking forward to it.

Congratulations on your Meet the Beatles vinyl! I opted for the box set which I received yesterday and am really enjoying it. This set is really a nostalgic experience as opposed to an audio file one and on the nostalgia level it succeeds. If I want an audio file level experience I always have the UK mono to listen to. They have released the US albums on CD in both stereo and mono in 2004, 2006 and 2014 and they are all still available to buy so to release this new set on CD might be a little redundant whereas the US vinyl has been missing for decades. Let’s hope they do another pass at the 2014 UK Mono vinyl set for the folks that missed out. Great video. Take care.

The box set in the UK is £230 on the Beatles site which equates to a shade under $290. The individual albums are £32 which equates to $40. It means the difference between the individual and box sets in the UK is about $50 which is probably reasonable. The fact that we're getting ripped off for the individual albums is the issue over here.

I have the original Beatles in Mono Boxset on vinyl, and love it. I'm 77, so nostalgia plays a big part in some of my vinyl purchases.
That being said, I don't have that much nostalgia to want to buy the Capital US versions.
And I usually find myself always starting at Sgt Pepper, but also Rubber Soul and Revolver when listening to the older stuff.
Once in awhile, Help, but the earlier albums are great for a once a year type of thing.
Retired and on a fixed income, the cost of vinyl is getting so high, it's almost no longer a luxury I can afford.

Thanks for sharing your review.

If I owned and used a good turntable, I might have considered buying the albums, but I'm not a vinyl collector. I remember the night Meet The Beatles entered my life. I just turned eight, and I remember holding the album in my hands and staring at the back cover, it was fascinating to me, their faces, their whole look. The music was fun, exciting, and they seemed brand new, unlike anyone else.

That was also my first Beatles album in 64, but when I realised those Capital ones weren't what the band issued, that was the end of those for me. I never listened to them again. If I did get one for nostalgic reasons, I would definitely have gotten the black as blue defeats remembering the one I got initially which I still have.

I bought the first two new mono releases yesterday. I'm like you, I prefer their later stuff. I have all the UK stereo releases. I eventually warmed up to their early stuff. I will eventually get all the new us mono releases. I am one of those people that have to collect all of something if its available. Cool video! Subscribed!

Great honest video. The only one of these I’ll be buying is Something New which is my favorite record. I hope it sounds good when played.

The tapes sent to Capital were most likely 2nd generation. However, these were obviously raw copies meaning that the Dave Dexter mixes were at least one generation further down, so 3rd generation. Further, many mono mixes in the US were actually fold downs of the stereo mix which saves Dave Dexter having to apply his mixing tricks twice for each song. So these mono fold-downs are 4th generation. A particularly egregious example is Ticket to Ride, where I believe they made a fake stereo mix and then needlessly folded the fake stereo down to mono instead of using the true mono mix.

First off I would keep it please don't sell it. I have the 1964 CDs box set of the US albums and I enjoy it greatly I know Dave Dexter was probably in his 40s when he did that work when he did that work on them. But I love the Reverb on I feel fine for instance. And the mono of and I love her from something new is single track which is hard to find. And there are so many examples I can give but I just enjoy the album and I'm happy to have the CD set in my collection. I always enjoy your videos. As this was a great review. Keep up the good work. Cheers from pennsylvania!

Great honest review! I’m not a vinyl person. I’ll stick to my US ALBUMS box. (Cd) I get some of the rare mixes but most of the stereo and mono mixes(first generation) instead of those muddy versions.

Have all original Beatles Capital albums and they still play great. I do like the English versions better and have them in CD format. But had to have this album because.

Great review TJR. I grew up with these and have less than no interest in them. I''ll still with the albums as George Martin and the Beatles intended. I do wish they would repress the UK mono box.

It seems the Merch Bar deal fell through for everyone. And so did my Amazon Germany cheap deal. They seemed to only ship the few they got to European residents. Ugh! So, I grabbed another rare box set. The big Rory Gallagher "BBC Collection" set. Amazon Canada must pretty much be the last retailer in the world who still has it. And it was the same price I was gonna pay for The Beatles US Albums LP set. I wouldn't have wanted the six separate albums, it was all or nothing. I should enjoy that Rory Gallagher BBC box set, I love great electric guitar playing. and he was a guitar master.

I’m not buying anymore of these money grabs until they do the box sets of Rubber Soul and the rest of the album remixes..LFG!

I'm tempted to order Meet The Beatles on the blue vinyl. but I most likely won't. I already have the two Capitol Albums box sets and the Individual US Albums CDs. So my American titles are well planted in my collection. On vinyl I have a vintage copy of Yesterday & Today in mono, and this leaves the only US mono mix I have not heard is Revolver. And I don't know if that adds to or takes any thing away from my life. But I do seem to be in good health otherwise for a 63 year old.

You are right about the grammar. I think that young people don't read so they don't know how to write English.
