When a teacher is passionate and values education, it will, in turn, translate into the classroom and breed success. Creative Tech for Girls is an all-girls STEM camp which encourages students to challenge themselves, work hard and step outside their comfort zone.

Angela Boccuzzi-Reichert, Teacher/Librarian in the Hilton Central School District, speaks about the importance of encouraging young girls to explore the opportunities in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) fields. The all-girls STEM camp offers a chance to develop important skills during the summer months.

Hilton Central School District is one of only a few schools which offers girls-only STEM camps in Monroe County, NY.

According to the National Science Foundation (NSF.GOV), as of 2016, women are greatly underrepresented in STEM Fields, with most disparities in engineering, computer, and physical sciences with women making up nearly 50% (College-Educated) of the workforce in the United States, only 29% are in those respective fields.

It is critical that primary schools, higher learning institutions, and businesses attract young girls/women to explore STEM opportunities. Having women in those fields is vital to our growing workforce, and the constant changing job environments. Women offer different perspectives and point of views. In turn, the proper representation will spark creativity, innovation, and competitiveness.
