That’s what I love about morally ambiguous characters - suddenly they surprise when they do the opposite of what we expect. Big Mom may be a tyrant, but as an orphan herself and a mother, child abuse is where she draws the line.

This just shows how well developed Oda's villains are. They are very multilayered and not just outright evil. Big Mom isn't just evil, she has her own sense of justice that is warped. She wants to make the world a nice place but only by doing It her way by ruling over everyone. She protects people but only if they have given her something in return but also if they are not useful in the way she wants like Zues for example she will get rid of them.

Big mom always wanted people big, small, and different to be treated equal . When she is treated with love and respect by a village especially when she bonded with a child to her they are worth protecting . It’s not about them being strong or weak it’s about how they are treated . Like she said humanity and justice, to destroy those who offer food water and love should be respected those who don’t well deserve big mamas wraith

Big Mom may be ruthless but she's not as ruthless as Kaido is. This is a great character development for Big Mom. Makes me like Big Mom a little more and she certainly has my respect one shotting Page.

I always hoped Big Mom would be redeemed in some way as the story went on. Her backstory is pretty sad. Grim, but sad. She's done a ton of terrible things but she started as a blank slate as a kid that clearly loved her parents that abandoned her, and mother Carmel who was going to sell her. And all the other children in the orphanage with her. I just think back on that scene where she accidentally killed the bear and the wolf because she wanted them to stop fighting, not because there was any malice there. Then Streusen came along when she was at her lowest and...well, that was that. I get that she's rotten to her kids (in some cases) but she never had a decent parental figure herself. If she had, she probably would have turned out a lot differently. I do hope Oda gives her at least one more redeeming moment as the story comes to a close.
