KPRC 2 Investigates: Targeted towing? Nurse upset, towed while visiting patient

One woman called our Investigates team after a wrecker towed her vehicle from a Pasadena apartment complex where she said she was parked in a legal spot.

Houston is the only place where they tow like that. I have lived over 6 months in over 6 or 7 cities and still no place compares to how Houston is about towing.

Some tow companies wait for victims inside the complex and tow it right away after they parked.

Caught a tow truck trying to take my truck at 2 in the Tried to say it wasn't parked between the lines properly, when confronted. Even a neighbor came out and called him a liar, and the whole time he was acting like he was law enforcement until a real sheriff deputy showed up and almost took him to jail. These tow truck guys in Houston have been out of controlled, driving dangerously and under the impression they're law enforcement officials.

Yes they just did this to me I was parked in the visitor parking and they still towed it it's really stealing people cars and something needs to be done about it.

In places where poor people live. This predatory towing happens moreover. They have a contract with the apartment complex yes! Although the manner in which they do the tows are very much predatory and sneaky. They sit and what sometimes with the assistance of the lying apartment staff that runs a slum business. But won't try to help the residents with proper maintenance and or security. This happens alot in the Houston area. Sleazy towing companies that look for a profitable tow. There maybe wrecked or stolen vehicles in the same Complexes that they won't even touch. Smh!😢

Hopefully that nurse will be given a parking permit by the apartment management so this doesn’t have to happen.

My complex will not tell me what our parking policy is. They tow all legal tagged vehicles in my complex but won't tow cars with illegal paper tags.. how can you submit legit insurance and get a sticker if you don't even have legal plates!

Pasedena Texas wld tow u in a sec. It be the most run down complexes that tow u.
A leasing manager stopped my car from being towed in Pasadena when i was at work visiting a resident. He put it down .

Auto storage pay up front of $100 to $150 to tow driver and this storage usually have nasty attitude and no change. This storage want to keep your vehicle, then sell it off to storage auction. I was used car dealer and bought many cars from in-house storage auction. They make millions dollars from your vehicle and they brag about it.

They come and tow your car and leave in minutes. Easy money for the towing companies. But for the ppl trying to fight back and get their money back its a loooong process. That sounds fair dont it

Property owner should notify the vehicle owner, call your state legislature .

I own a wrecker co. and my driver started doing this practice 20 years ago and I told him it was tacky and made him stop...it's easy money and he was splitting the fees with the office staff...again, I made him stop immediately because it doesn't smell right to me and my $$ started the wrecker co. and I call the shots. Know what it is and hold the wrecker co. owners accountable for low class procedures in an articulate way is what I suggest.
