Wow, LFE 38120 cells! Always thought all 38120 were LiPo cells. This is great news!
Good tip re paralleling cells, thanks Brad.

38120 Headway cells were my first time working with making a battery pack. I blindly put them into a 12.8V pack not realizing that I needed to charge/test them individually first, let's just say it wasn't pretty. One of the batteries made 2 loud pops. I thought it was the charger at first, but I decided to disassemble the battery pack, only to discover that it was one of the batteries that popped. Needless to say, I'm glad it was a LiFePO4 and not a Lithium-Ion battery. My lesson has been learned for sure. 😁

UPDATE: I just finished checking the batteries, and found out that I destroyed 4 of the 16.

Your setup resulted as expected: furthest cells got less power before the charger stopped. It is common practice to power opposite ends of the bus bars to normalize the problem, say, positive to nearest cell but negative to furthest cell, or vice versa. Just a thought and appreciate your videos.

Could you charge them 2 to 3 at a time instead of all 8 at one time??

Hey Brad it's James in the bus, did you ever find any of those see through red heat shrink wraps for the Headway 38120hp cells???

What's the website you mention that shows optimal cell arrangements? What power supply do you use with the hobby charger? Thanks for the video!

I bought some on EBay because they claimed they were new. Didn’t show up with any hardware…sketchy

Capacity test 7.8 to 7.9 Ah…yeah that’s not new.

Seller is from AZ like me and the cell terminals look new so I’m guessing stored in an non air conditioned environment for a few years.

Still need to leave that MF’er negative feedback.

Anyways, putting the cells in parallel does in fact balance them albeit very slowly. The current really slows down as they get close together so it could take weeks if you really wanted them to be exactly the same.

That mean you have only 4 good battery. When seller tell the battery are rate to 8amp all the battery should be at lest 8amp after capacity test.

No, your comment about balancing cells is incorrect.
Connecting the cells in parallel WILL balance the cells. It won't balance them at a full charge. But it will balance them.
And this is recommended prior to charging.
Not hard to figure out. Test each cell, then connect in parallel without charger.
Test again, you will see the cells have balanced.
Then apply charge.
