The ONLY beans I use is plain canned black beans, rinsed. I discovered that a late addition of charred corn is AMAZING! Just a can of corn drained, & charred in a nonstick pan with some butter on med-high heat -- it adds a sweet kick! I also cut some sweet red bell peppers into bite-sized pieces, and put some raw into the bowl, then top with hot chili so they are still sweet & crisp!
Also ... I'm in Alberta, Canada. WAY FAR NORTH of the USA. I don't waste ... the tortilla chips at the end of every single Tostitos, the busted-up taco shells, and the last bits of Doritoes are ALL perfect toppings for chili or taco bowls!

I Love Beans in Chilli if it isn't hot dog chilli...I'm not about the seed life either! From one Midwesterner to another, looks great! My husband's favorite way I dress up chili is that about a half an hour before it's done, I preheat the oven to 425° and bake some golden crown style tater tots in the oven until they're quite crispy. I serve up big bowls of my chili with shredded cheddar and a handful of those crispy tots on top. It's so good-- we call it upside down chili cheese fries! ❤

We make what we call 'Chili Junk'. Make the chili however you make it. Put tortilla chips in the bottom of a bowlplate, cover lightly with shredded cheese, add a couple scoops of chili, add more shredded cheese, lettuce, tomato, black olives, sour cream, guacamole, & taco or picante sauce. Sometimes I make the Velveeta/rotel cheese dip instead of using shredded cheese. Yeah, Chili Junk is one of my favorite things to eat when it's cold!😊
