I have been to both places on many trips to Israel and have come to the conclusion that it’s not about the where Jesus was Crucified, but about why He was Crucified. All the disagreements are just a distraction. I don’t worship a place, I worship my Lord and King Jesus.

The bible in the old testament says the after David killed Goliath that he took Goliaths head and buried it in Jerusalem. Hebrew tradition says that he buried it at the hill now called Golgatha and that is why it is called the place of the skull.
So if that's true then mt Calvary represents a place of two victories .
David's victory over the giant and more importantly Jesus victory over the Devil.

Interesting. I visited both spots and my conclusion is this: the garden tomb is the peruse spot since it matches the-description the best . Golgotha is within a short walking distance of the garden and tomb there . Right by the road and you can see the “ skull” in the rocks. Outside the city. Again, only my opinion .

I read that David put Goliaths skull there after he killed him, according to legend, and that's why it was called Golgotha. 💀 As David defeated the demonic Goliath, Jesus death defeated Satan.

The church of the Holy Sepulcher was outside the city in those days; the walls were expanded later. Interesting though.

Here’s another possibility of why the place is called Golgotha or Calvary (skull):
When David killed Goliath (Gol) from Gath, he cut his head off with his own sword. Then took his head back to Jerusalem (outside the city because the head was too big to fit through the gates) and buried it. Eventually, Jesus was crucified over that place to fulfill the prophecy of he will crush your head (Gen 3:15). In doing so, Jesus is above any giant or mountain we can face and he is victorious! According to modern measurements, Goliath was 9’6” but in ancient time, regular humans were larger than we are today so this theory could be a possibility.
