Actually in cleft grafting the size of root stock and scion were different .root stock is bigger than scion..

This is called epicotyl or stone grafting not cleft .ln cleft(also known as wedge grafting)grafting we insert 2 scions in mother plant and the root stock and scion shoots not need to be same in diameter.
