US announces billions of dollars in support for Africa – BBC News

US President Joe Biden has announced billions of dollars in support and investment for Africa at a summit with the continent's heads of state.

Mr Biden spoke to 49 African leaders who attended the Washington DC meeting.

It is the first such gathering hosted by Washington for eight years.

The summit is seen as a US attempt to re-assert its influence in Africa to counter Chinese involvement.

Africa is not trying to become vassal states like we see in the EU, Germany the second largest western economy has its gas pipelines blown up by the US

Africa does not need China and American and EU investment which always comes in the form of loans.
African needs its existing yoke of loans to be cut....ideally in half. The cost for this is to ban all African countries from raising their debt ceiling to more than 50% unless in emergency situations such as in wars, pandemic and in draught.
Africa can then grow organically and reinvest the money that would have repaid interest and principal in the things it needs to develop and to educate its people.

It is this crippling debt that has, is and will continue to destroy Africa.
