Love that you mention connecting with your inner child thru style. I made a little collage recently for my home Reno and decor it's called "where my inner child can finally come home" 🖤

Wilingness to do upkeep is such an element! I could never be bothered to blow out my hair or do my bangs everyday, but doing a full vintage wet set once a week and styling every day os fun for me and brings me joy!

I checked out your pins about Aquarius energy and was AMAZED to see my signature hair and makeup there! 😳🖤

I've started to buy new clothes after years of not thinking much about it and gainning some weight. And I realized that most of them look like my favorite clothes from childhood, with some different details or colors, because I am an adult + my taste has changed/evolved, but I can see the similarities.

Had to laugh when you brought up inner child and movie/ book/ TV characters. My inner child has been sitting on my lap all my life! 😆 I grew up in the 90s watching 1930s/40s films never realizing how those eras influenced my style until someone else brought it to my attention. Somehow I am simultaneously young at heart and an old soul. ... if Chris Cornell and Linda Darnell had a baby girl, she'd be me 😁

My dominant sign is Scorpio (Moon, mercury and venus) but I'm not a big fan of the dark aesthetic because my personal style is more of a soft girl look. One day I decided to experiment a bit and bought a black lacey bodycon dress and it was the best thing I've ever worn. It still maintained a romantic flair due to lace but it was also typically sexy and bolder, just gorgeous. I am a winter color wise too so black is very flattering.

Melyssa, you're becoming one of my style inspirations! I recently discovered your channel, I was so intrigued by your thoughts on fashion because you have a similar vibe and aesthetic that I am creating for myself. This video officially confirmed that you are my style soulmate because literally everything you said word from word resonated with me. It's kind of freaky how much it resonated with me. Your channel is truly a godsend!!

I am also a dark winter and I also dyed my hair black and I have baby bangs now. I had short hair in the past that would flip out and drove me insane and I had curtain bangs a few months ago which did nothing for me and then my confidence skyrocketed the moment I cut my baby bangs and realized that this is the low-maintenance hair style that I always dreamed of. I could not agree more about how important it is to have a hairstyle you can actually manage and it only took until my mid-twenties to discover what works for me. Although I am still determined to master Dita's vintage pincurls eventually!

You're also always wearing black in all of your videos and my entire wardrobe is black as well. I''m not goth but I guess my final form is giving off witchy vampire femme fatale vibes with a more subtle, office appropriate, classy, modern and relaxed twist. I'm heavily influenced by Dita Von Teese and her color palette. So I love that you referenced her as well as Morticia Addams, 90s Angelina Jolie and Winona Ryder in this video. Finally someone gets me!

OMG when you were talking about your inner child. Yes, that makes so much sense! I think we know our truest selves when we are children before life happens and then we lose our sense of self the more we conform to the latest trends and attempt fitting in rather than standing out. I think anyone starting their style journey should start with Kibbe then Color Season then Kitchener Essence and then the final touch is reconnecting with their inner child and remembering what they were drawn to when they were children when they did not fear judgement or impressing anyone else. So you are definitely on to something about inner child playing a role in one's signature look. I wear outfits now that I know my 8 year old self or teenage self would absolutely love and that makes me feel even more confident knowing that I'm making my inner child/younger self proud. That's the only person anyone should want to impress, no one else.

I completely understand what you mean by thinking of yourself as a character with a signature look. I did not feel as though I had main character energy in my own life until I carefully crafted my look. Obviously working on your inner self is more important than working on your outer self because that is the bulk of who you are. But it was not until I felt confident about my own appearance and I had my own style that I transitioned from secondary character mentality to main character mentality.

You also hit the nail on the head about finding your scent/perfume. I literally just stumbled across mine. Obviously everyone wants to smell good and there are more than plenty of options. You can wear a different scent for every occasion. But when you're wearing the right scent that encapsulates what you imagine your aesthetic/vibe/essence/color season smelling like (if that makes sense) it's quite literally the cherry on top of your signature look. I recently found the perfect perfume that does this for me and I kid you not, it enhances the look I'm going for. You would't think it would have such a powerful effect but it does.

I am also an amateur astrologer but the funny thing is I don't feel as though my Gemini sun and venus, Aquarius moon and rising or Taurus mars or mercury are where my fashion is influenced by. Or maybe it's there but I'm just not seeing it yet. So I'm kind of at a complete loss as to where in may birth chart and my fashion sense correlate. I was wondering if you could please do a video on each one of the zodiac signs and the aesthetics and signature looks you associate with that sign and why. I understand that it would be entirely your opinion and not based on an actual system but I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Anyway, I wasn't planning on writing you a novel but I had so much to comment on. This video was not only helpful but it's comforting to relate to someone with pretty much the same style inspirations as myself while navigating the intimidating and overwhelming world of Kibbe, Kitchener, Color Season and Fashion and creating my own place in that world. I love what you're doing, please keep up the good work! ❤

Just recently I finally discovered (after decades) that my actual color season is a light spring. I always loved these colors in early childhood. They're so innocent and youthful and despite being in my mid-late 40s I still get guessed 10 years younger. And I realized the kibbe type that fits the most is theatrical romantic. Always delicate, small hourglass and just 154cm. Despite having aries as my sun and venus, my rising sign is taurus and it's also present in my mercury and lilith. Maybe this is why I'm drawn towards soft, feminine styles and some boldness and edge added here and there as an accent.

Plus after many years I now went back to my old beloved fragrance I wore in late 90s/early 2000. It's sweet, it's vanilla and fruity and I finally feel home again in my skin. It's called Lolita Lempicka and I'm glad they still produce the original version from 1997! 💖

At the same time after finding back to myself and what I love the most I am afraid I might appear as too childish or girl like or not "mature" enough and not taken seriously. Already being petite and being light spring that's a bit of a challenge. But I also don't want to deny myself anymore to any social standards. Just 2 days ago I was told I'm "too old" for a short floral skirt I wore that day. That comment hurt me more than I was expecting as it hit me on a deeper level. It hit me at my core, what I actually am and this is what was getting harshly rejected and forbidden. Is society so harsh and unforgiving if you don't fit in the usual categories?

I would really love if you could do a video on channeling the dark aesthetic, without the conventional dark goth makeup. For example using even shimmer and pastels to have that undercurrent. I think you touched upon it in one of your other videos on dark essences with Kitchener essences. But would be great to see your take on it.

Getting baby bangs was the best thing I did for my style and my hair maintenance. I actually find that having these bangs has helped me be able to wear my hair down and the bangs like you said as long as they dry in place are good to go. I don't even blow dry mine just comb them down.

I feel like you are the dark version of me. Lol. I'm blonde/grey and light summer. Gemini, inspired by very airy but elemental style. Loved this vid! I'm also a designer and have a very long Canva document about style. I've considered making workbooks/worksheets. I bet you would be great at that!

I'm still between Soft Classic and Soft Natural, I was disheartened thinking that micro bangs could never look good on me, I'm glad to know I can still try, you look amazing.

Melyssa you’re really soft spoken and create a beautiful aura towards this theme. I appreciate the work you do, it’s helping me find my very own style which has been difficult even after studying fashion and styling for nearly 10 years due to poor self esteem and struggling with my own self worth. I’m happy to learn with you and apply this knowledge alongside your videos.

I have a Cancer rising, and a Sagittarius sun. I do tend to gravitate towards more pastel and girly feminine floral styles. However, my Venus in Scorpio and other Scorpio placements help me also oscillate towards more dark or goth, even vampiric styles. My Cancer rising is ruled by the Moon, so it's just natural that it would oscillate between the dark and light sides of the Moon. Plus, I'm both Neptunian and Plutonian, so I do like to morph lol. I like digging into those archetypes for inspiration. I do feel it in my fashion sense. Great video!

I find your approach to fashion and the way you articulate your ideas to be very intriguing. I don't know if you're trying for an Ingenue-Goth vibe, but that is my impression. It's a fresh take on a dark aesthetic, to me. Interestingly, my style aesthetic is nothing like yours, even though I'm a Soft Natural and a fellow creative too. Sporty Boho? (I'm a Sagittarius with Libra rising, like Brittney Spears, but way older.) Not even sure how to describe it and maybe that's part of the problem of nailing down my aesthetic. Much food for thought....
