He's only "losing" in the eyes of the fans due to inactivity, his last few performances were great and if he retired now he walks away with an intact legacy. The guys body is failing him(allegedly) from the wear and tear of fighting, walking away now it seems he has a pretty good life to go to, he has a pretty good podcast with Henry, his acting career if he wants to take that further and most importantly for a fighter he seems to have his mental faculties intact, he's been a great fighter and a joy to watch and I think if he walked away tomorrow he'd only be celebrated as one of the greats of the WW division.

Yeah this is an awful take. His last three he Lost a competitive decision to Leon, arguably beat KHAMZAT on 2 weeks notice and wouldve won if it wasnt 3 rounds, and was dominating Leon until the headkick.
He's hardly lost stock here.

This number 1 contender fight against Shavkat was definitely a missed opportunity for Usman.
If you remember, there was some beef going on between him and Belal at the time and he was talking himself back into the title picture. Then this fight literally fell right into his lap but he turned it down cos he said he wasn't ready.
Considering how Shavkat fought against Garry as well as the fact that he apparently came in with a torn MCL, Kamaru could've given been a serious test for him stylistically.
But now Usman has fallen down the queue because if you look at the top of the division atm, Garry's stock has risen after the fight, Buckley has a main event spot this week, Leon is fighting in March possibly against Brady and JDM is closer to returning as well 🤷‍♂️
