Fun Fact: Fights would often break out between those meant to die by guillotine, but not for the reason you may think. These fights were to decide who would go first, which was to be desired. After just a few drops, the blade of the guillotine would become dull and require multiple drops to fully decapitate someone, which was, as you would imagine, extraordinarily painful

Fun Fact:Charlotte Corday was a lot more hardcore than the video shows. Her original plan was to kill Marat on the floor of the National Convention and allow the angry mob to beat her to death. Marat had withdrawn from the assembly so Charlotte got creative.

Imagine being a French soldier and hearing, " hoot hoot" across the fields.

I remember back in school, one of the girls asked why they'd kill the women and children too. I said it's similar to potato chips, once you get started it's so difficult to stop.

For being "oversimplified", this is actually more detailed than my highschool's history class about this revolution

I personally like how serious he gets when it comes absolute tragic events, like he'll be silly about everything else but then when horrifying massacres come up, they'll use the art at the time instead of using the animation style

You forgot the Best part about the death of Robespierre. During his arrest, he accidently shot himself in the jaw, permanently shutting him up for good.

Fun fact: During Robespierres arrest, he attempted to commit suicide by shooting himself in the jaw and the day of his execution, the guards removed the bandage keeping his jaw in place so he began screaming in agony until the blade shut him up.

i think the fact that france was at war with most of europe and had a lot of revolutions and still survived and started pummeling the allies might be one of the greatest military feats in all of history

8:45 fun fact: Louie actually did try to give a speech before he died, but was executed before he could. The song Viva La Vida is a interpretation of what the speech might have been.

the way oversimplified took Marie Antoinette's reaction to her husbands death more seriously than his actual death

Fun fact! Before the revolution, Robespierre trained as a lawyer and was briefly a judge but resigned because he couldn't bring himself to sentence people to death.

French Revolutionaries: "How many people should we execute?"

Robespierre: "Yes"
