There is (or at least was) a material you could buy that was like cast wrapping bandages but made with concrete that, when soaked in water and let dry, could make structures pretty quickly

yes, before hesco barriers nobody had used earthen works or sand bags...that would be silly (;
jokes aside, yes those make it contained and convenient, but the same basic thing was accomplished via other means before 1991 which the site says is when hesco was first fielded.
i remember hearing cartoonz recently mentioned he got some for his new property. not a bad idea vs standard fencing especially in a rural area where you can dig as you please.
