E readers are great. I read 80% on my phone or Kindle. Backlight, E-ink easy on eyes, resizable font, can choose fonts, really light for one-handed reading, can look up words, searchable function, holds thousands of books at once….

I read on the go, at work, on the toilet, watching my kid. Having a Kindle is so much easier. If I want to read physical book I need everyone to leave me alone, and be sitting on my chair.

Would love to read physical books, as I have hardcover collection rivaling yours. Often I buy the hardcover and read the Kindle. If your central visual field deteriorates from your CRVO, the backlight and sizing of a Kindle may be beneficial to you to make a legible font vs the vagaries of paper.

IMO, reading the words and collecting physical objects are two separate things. Also, if you read self-published fantasy and webnovels, online is the only way to read it…..

I agree! I also love the fact that a book wears when it's read often. Like an old, favorite leather bag.

Before I had cataract surgery, I could only read on a Kindle. It saved my life. I can change the font size and back light intensity. I love physical books, but when you have eye problems, ereaders can mean the difference between reading and not.

Few years back I also detested ereaders. Then I bought one and now I only read on my ereader. I dont have to buy stupid book lights for reading in bed at night, and I also read books alot faster now, since I can just have an ereader in my pocket and flip it out whenever I want. It would be kinda wierd lugginy a thousand page fantasy epic around all the time :D

I agree about streaming. I would rather own it. I don't trust the streaming services to continually offer my favorites, nor do I wish to pay monthly for something I can buy once.

From a fellow book sniffer I much prefer physical books but I have the money and space for the hobby and I understand it’s a personal choice. The most important thing is that people are reading.

I much prefer physical books because I like holding a book in my hand

I love physical books, but I also have a Kindle and love the convenience of it. I can take it on the train for my commute, and read it anywhere.

I get the argument about the batteries, but I’m on my 2nd Kindle in 12 years so I don’t think it’s too wasteful.

Btw I have your first 2 books as both physical and Kindle versions!

For enthusiasts like us, having the physical books is important, but the text is what is REALLY important. E-books encourage people to read who otherwise wouldn't. I definitely want that option there for those people. What worries me is that it's more likely that physical books will eventually die out just like physical film, music and video game media are dying. I hate the idea of not physically owning things, but that's the direction society is heading and we set ourselves on that course. I guess the old rich guys at the WEF were right. :(

It’s all about convenience. A physical book is definitely far superior to an e-reader. However, on a flight, standing on a long line, commuting by bus, sometimes it’s just easier to hold a thin electronic device with 1, 000 books at our disposal as opposed to holding Stephen King’s 500-pound Under The Dome! Heehee😂

Physical books for me. I can't get into reading on electronics. I understand the convenience but I cant do it. I cant relax and follow a story like I can when it's a physical copy. I don't even consider an ebook as a BOOK. Ebook is just Files to me.

I collect old paperback Sci-Fi and Fantasy....nothing compares to the smell of old pulp! Never even tried an e-reader. I download my books from a shelf!

Always will prefer paperbacks, I just use my kindle to screen books so if I really like them I'll but them physically, haha

I wish we could ❤ react YouTube videos.

That smell of a book is like nothing else, or the deep thump sound when you tap on a chunky book.

While I deeply prefer a physical book to hold in my hand while I read, (because let’s be honest, ) there’s nothing like it— I do however utilize a Kindle also. I find that sometimes when reading while in bed and the wife’s sleeping, it still allows me to easily enjoy reading.

Ebooks and ereaders aren’t going anywhere. I strongly prefer reading on my Kindle. Best tech purchase I’ve ever made. I used to have a huge physical book collection and realized it was mainly superficial. Finally had an epiphany and got rid everything. Moving will also help in that decision lol. I hardly ever reread and so they were just sitting there collecting dust and taking up way too much space. Absolutely ridiculous.
