For me, I had the entire Rock Band kit on Xbox 360.... but then the PS4 came out and that was my main system of choice... and there was no way I was going to re-buy all of that equipment again for a new system as well as all those old songs I had purchased separately

As a child who grew up with mostly hip-hop music, GH introduced me to so much music and broadened my taste. Grateful for video games in general for having diverse soundtracks

They died when everyone's guitar broke and they stopped selling them so you couldnt get a new one.

No matter what people say, I love Guitar Hero and Rock Band. I played it for like two hours yesterday, I love Rock music and there's a lot of great songs you can play in a lot of the games. Guitar hero is so fun to me and I'll probably keep playing it or modded versions of it on PC for a long time.

Guitar 3 will forever be a classic, wouldn’t mind some kind of version of it on modern consoles

No one wants to buy the almost exact same game every year.

I'm so thankful for Rock Band. Before that series, outside of clarinet ( which I was bad at ), I had no musical talent.
I remember when I first started Rock Band, I had no rhythm. But over time, I got better and better at the drums, playing on expert. Fast forward to now. I've been in a few different bands, released an album earlier this year, and even played with Anti-Flag two weeks ago. I don't think I'd be a musician if those games hadn't inspired me.

RockBand 4 is far from dead. Stil one of my most played games. Just passed 950 songs in my collection. Harmonix is also actively working to bring Rockband network artists back to Rockband 4.

Guitar Hero died because Activision forced Neversoft to release way too many games in a short amount of time which over saturated the market. The reason why GH Live didn't do well is because it was a passionless cash grab. Neversoft made guitar so amazing because of the genuine love and passion they put into the series.

Rock Band isn't dead yet. The future doesn't look good for it but I can't see Harmonix letting go of it that easily. They love Rock Band as much as Neversoft loved Guitar Hero.

They comunity has now flocked to a fan-made game called "Clone Hero" which is the perfect Rock Band/ Guitar Hero game. Considering you can even make and download your own songs for it, I think the community is gonna live on for a while.

Also DJ Hero was fucking fantastic.

I got my kids Rock Band 2 for Christmas the year it came out. They played it for a while, then moved on to other games. I got behind the drum kit and was instantly hooked. So much so that I now play real drums. Even funnier is that I wrote an Android app that mimics the "note scroll" in RB for drums; this is still how I learn to play new songs on my acoustic kit. I "chart" a new song using the Reaper app with the Custom RB3 template, export it to a midi file, and my Android app reads this midi file. It syncs it to the mp3 of the original song and the notes scroll by as the song plays just like the RB game. It really helps with the muscle memory when learning a new groove. I can even set specific start and end points in a song and it will loop. I'm an old guy (mid 50s) and would have never started playing drums without RB. And playing drums in a band with other musicians is easily the most fun I ever had. Sounds corny, but playing in a band is pure joy. Never would have happened if it weren't for RB.

The garbage songs selection in the recent entries killed it.

I still play Rock Band 4 with all my friends, when you have a full band going it's a great time.

I started playing with Rockband 3 because of the introduction of keyboards and stopped playing with Rockband 4 when they took them out.
