It was my honor and privilege to serve with 2nd Lieutenant Joe Tinkham in B Battery, 2nd Battalion, 7th Artillery, 24th Mechanized Infantry Division in Augsburg, West Germany. Later after our unit was withdrawn from Europe we were roommates at Fort Riley, Kansas. Joe was a fine officer from the beginning of his career and a great friend. RIP.
